That ghoul hopes there is not a Richmond "lurker". It thinks no one yet knows of this traitorous  supposed WB retreat from Richmond.

I hope Bob Raynor from the RTD is reading this so he can break "the story".  I'm going to e-mail him and ask him to read all this.

I don't buy that.... Wachovia Securities has only been headquartered in Richmond for a couple years and seem VERY committed to the community. I think a relative of Downtowner works at Wachovia Securities downtown at Riverfront Plaza. Perhaps he could help shed light on this.

I'd be outraged if they tried to pull that crap. Richmond's big 3 banks should never have let the Charlotte banks have a chance of purchasing them....

Coupe, do you think I should e-mail Bob Raynor, refer him to this thread and ask him to nose around?  It might be better coming from you than an out-of-towner.

Are you going to broach this on RCW (or have you already)?  The more that know, the higher the outrage.  I'll leave it to you.

I haven't decided yet.. sent you an e-mail.

it's not true yet that we know of... but I'm just outraged at the thought of it. I guess now is time for the waiting game. They'd damn well better compensate.

I haven't heard anything down here (Charlotte) but I'll let you know if I do.  I have a lot of friends at WB.  Plus, they announced today they will start doing Credit Cards again, which should add to the employment base.  Even though I live in Charlotte, I am a Virginian, and I would hate to see this happen to Richmond.  The good thing about Richmond though is that it always bounces back.  Also, WB didn't buy Capital One, which was rumored for a while.

Maybe Wachovia should buy Capital One so it can sell it's new corporate campus in Richmond and move the 7,000+ employees to Charlotte.

Keep us posted. Richmond is usually able to weather things like this because its economy is so diverse. It's just with all the steps we've made forward, I'd hate to see us take one back like this.

Wachovia has their Va, DC, Maryland HQ in Richmond at James Center I think... Hopefully they don't feel like moving them as well.

Maybe we can persuade Dominion to buyout Duke energy and call it even? After we relocate a couple thousand employees to a new tower in Richmond of course!

HaHa.  I know a very high ranking veepee at Duke Power who grew up in Richmond.  Could he come along in the transfer?  LOL

We're going to "sick" Doug Wilder on WB (the stock exchange symbol for Wachovia) in Charlotte!  And will THEY be sorry?!!!  Hahahaha.  They'll wish they had never heard of Richmond, let alone steal one of it's Fortune 500's!

To do penance, they will build their new tower at Canal/5th/7th/Tredegar with a 1st class performing arts center at its base.

Then, Ghazi will follow with a super tower around the Carpenter Center on  the Thalhimer hole in the ground.

And on top of that, NASCAR will announce Richmond as its preferred site for their HOF!

THAT will frost the balls of the ghoul on UP's Charlotte site!!!  If she has any!

Sorry about the confusion on the other board.  I wasn't aware it was sensitive info.  Most of the time these things are just rumors but it seemed like something people in RIC would be interested in.  I hope it doesn't happen.  One of my Wach Securities friends in RIC said they have around 200 openings up there.

They aren't HQ'ed here.... Joey ask your aunt about the possibility of Wachovia Sec. being relocated to Charlotte...

they are based in Texas.

Hey Joey.  While you were downtown at the Impact Awards, did you wander around and look at the Phillip Morris site and the Fed Courthouse construction?

Don't forget to ask auntie about the Wachovia rumors.
