So an investor named Basher Issa has purchased the Statler Towers and is converting it into 200 condos, a 150 room hotel, office and retail space as well.  He is also going to build a "tall symbolic" building Downtown.  Also, the former AM&A's building downtown is being sold and the new owner is planning to turn it into apartments, retail and offices.  These are just a couple of the new developments downtown!!

Are there any renderings for any of these projects?

A new skyscraper would be good news!  It seems like everything like this that gets announced always seems to fall through (remember Adelphia's plans).  Can anything be done to turn Buffalo around?

Wow. That would be a nice change to Buffalo's skyline.

Any idea when construction starts?

Issa said he hopes to start construction by the end of 2008, with the first tenants in place in 2010.
As soon as it's 40% leased, construction will begin.  He is focusing on luring companies from NYC and Toronto instead of just sucking dry the rest of the office space in the Buffalo area though several area firms already are signing up.

From what I've read, 600,000 square feet will be office space and 100,000 is already taken.  Total building is 1,200,000 sqft.  He's had success in projects in Manchester.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I hope this becomes a reality.
