Not a clue on children.  We're buying in the Parkway area.  While prices may continue to decline, we couldn't pass up the deal we were able to get on this house.  We looked at a lot in the Elmhurst area in our price range and everything, except this one, needed at lease some amount of work.
Oh, a fixer upper, eh?   All around handy man, are you? I don't have a clue when it comes to plumming, carpentry or electrical work. Um, exactly what do you do with a phillips head screw driver?

No, I was saying that this is not at all a fixer upper.  It needs nothing done to it.  It's already been done.

I'm in the process of buying a house.  I'll be moving back to Elmhurst, this time in the lower Elmhurst Chalkstone/Pleasant Valley Parkway area.  I can't wait, though I will miss living on the Hill and being able to walk everywhere.  Now I just need to sublet my apartment.

Congrats and welcome back to the neighborhood.

There's a neighborhood cleanup in Elmhurst on Saturday (must be the weekend of neighborhood cleanups). Unfortunately, I have too much to do around my own house, but I figured I'd post this on behalf of Elmhurst Clean & Green.

I just wanted to mention to anyone interested that there's going to be a community meeting with Councilman Solomon and Rep Giannini to discuss ways to slow traffic on Pleasant Valley Parkway. The organizers are in favor (as am I) of making it back to 2 one way streets (similar to Blackstone Blvd) with bike/jogging lanes. Apparently it was switched to 2 two way streets about 25 years ago. The meeting will be on May 13 at 7pm at Capitol Ridge on Smith St.

It makes NO SENSE that those are two 2-way streets.. Its the dumbest thing ever, there literaly is no rhyme or reason for it... Why is it so tough for government to just toss up a few one way signs? You have to have community actions and plead with them to do what any idiot would have done automatically

I agree. I should also mentioned that the city's traffic engineer will be there. This is going to be one of the last things he gets rolling before he leaves.

I mean, the lines aren't even painted, right? Denoting its two way? So its a couple poles a sign and a bolt.. End of discussion.. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go fight Providence's 2:30PM wake up rush hour traffic!

That's not the guy's name they mentioned. It was Chris something or other. Maybe it was the civil engineer.

It should be soon now. They've been renovating since the fall. It should turn out pretty nice when it's done.

Their grand openning was last Saturday.  The new store looks very nice.
