Camellia Grill Sold To Emeril?

The famed Camellia Grill, long known for its ethereal orange freezes, has been sold to a New Orleans businessman with ties to Emeril Lagasse.  It should be interesting to see what he might do with this old place.  I always loved going in there after a long night on the town.

Yeah, that place I think went bankrupt before the storm. Something about they werent even paying the bill for their linens. So lets hope they can rekindle what it use to be like a long time ago. It was a unique place, more because of its employees than anything though. Also, as far as new restaurants i know will becoming: Ruths Chris is still looking for a downtown location to put a flagship. Irenes is opening a new retsaurant on Bienville street in the Quarter, and a new restaurant from Port Fouchon will be opening in the old Rasputins spot on St charles. Really there isnt an industry in the city that has delivered more than the food sector. Im enjoying it more than I ever had before.

I called Dookie Chase tonight to see if they were open yet. Wanted some good N.O. food tonight. He told me that they are 2 1/2 months away, and thanked me for calling. Seemed like a really nice old man. Went to Bozo's instead... a dozen raw oysters and a big bowl of chicken andouille gumbo... the best chicken andouille gumbo in the city, IMO.

I saw something on the Weather Channel about Dooky Chase recently.  The dining room looked like it was spared major damage, but the kitchens did have trouble.  How are other landmark restaurants coping with the process of reopening?  I know that many lost their wine cellars, though those might have been insured (though God only knows how much they actually got for the collections).  I hope that the culinary scene can soon regain some sense of normalcy.

Two New Orleanians have open Creole restaurants here in San Antonio and the business is booming booming!!!!!

Commander's Palace Reopens With Jazz Brunch

One of my old favorites in New Orleans has reopened its doors with their famous Jazz Brunch.  I'll have to get down there again soon.

Mandinas, Emerils Demonico, Gabrielle, Dooky Chase and Mr Bs should all be opening in the next month-month and a half.

Is Venezia's reopening on Carollton off Canal?
It would be nice if they reopened Robert's Grocery right there also.  
It's an eyesore to Canal Street which is, otherwise, coming back nicely.

I was listening to WWL 870 on Saturday and they had the show about NO Restaurants on.

Anyways, without the exact number, there were around 965 restaurants in NO or the NO area before Katrina.

Emeril's Delmonico, which opened recently, was the 700th restaurant to reopen.

Archie Manning plans a New Orleans restaurant
Harrah’s New Orleans and former New Orleans Saints Quarterback Archie Manning are joining forces to open Manning’s. The venue will include a restaurant, bar and courtyard to be used for outdoor dining and entertainment. "I am excited to embark on this venture with Harrah’s and look forward to giving back to the city that has given me so much," Manning says in a prepared statement. "New Orleans is my home and I look forward to giving locals and visitors a sports experience unique to the city." Manning’s will lie on Harrah’s Fulton Square located just outside of Harrah’s Casino and Hotel on Fulton Street. The outdoor promenade is home to Ruth’s Chris, Gordon Biersch Restaurant, Grand Isle, Ernst Cafe and Aidan Gill. It also plays host to a number of festivals and attractions including Harrah’s Miracle on Fulton Street. Groundbreaking is set for January, with a grand opening in the fall.
