Yeah, the new SoM will look great when finished.

Too bad it couldn't be twice as tall.

Or at least 3 or 4 more stories to let it stand out within the medical cluster.

EDIT: Plus another one I fished out of Google. Some of these stock photos are really neat and interesting. Others are downright pretty. :)

This is a collection of Flickr pictures from a number of sources that an acquaintance posted on another site.

They are mostly of recent vintage -- even including some of yesterday's Monument 10K.

There's a rare photo of a concert on the Byrd Theatre stage.

The collection certainly shows Richmond's grit, as well as its natural beauty, campy side and artistic strength.

See how many sites you can identify.  But be warned -- there are hundreds of shots.

What are those large white squares (appear to be warehouses) near the center of the picture? Just to the northwest of the large green/park area.

I think those are old tobacco warehouses.

This hiking blog was posted today on RVANews via the Greater Jackson Ward News,

The author took a five-mile walk around downtown beginning and ending in Jackson Ward.

Enjoy the pictures and accompanying comments:

You gotta see this!

I found this jewel in John Murden's Church Hill People's News which he posted on April 15th.

It's a Hollywood-made Tour of Richmond, circa 1955.  The musical scoring is pretty syropy, but you'll love comparing Richmond today with this mid-20th century view.

That's awesome!  Thanks for the heads up about this video, Burt!  Watched it myself then sent it out to a planning professor of mine who enjoys watching films like this.  Very cool.

Ryan Ramsey has his April gallery of photos up at his  Richmond City Watch site.

I was especially pleased by his set of pix #17 thru #25 of 1st and Merchants Bank (most recently BB&T) being renovated for apartments.  The building is in the middle of the Financial District at 9th and Main Streets.

Also, some excellent shots showing progress on the Reynolds North property south of Byrd Street between 10th and 12th.

Plus, there are many more you will enjoy.

Thanks, Cam.  That's a nice, if hazy, picture of the skyline.

I assume that's the Channel 6 CBS TV tower on Broad Street west of The Boulevard.  It's 1,000 feet high, but looks even taller compared to downtown buildings about 2 miles east.

PS:  I'm sorry for your troubles with posting, but am glad to know I'm not the only one getting frustrated about editing as well as previewing text before posting. :tough:

It's horrible. I already posted this twice, but it took me to the main forum again. Anyway I have a couple others. I got there near dusk usually. The moon is rising above the city in that one. Here are two others.
