Downtown apartments near completion

Six luxury apartments in downtown Spartanburg will be ready as soon as June, developers said this week.
The 1,200- to 1,500-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments will lease for between $900 to $1,000 a month, according to Lamar Baehr of Baehr Investment Corp.
The apartments will be inside the building beside Carolina Cash on East Main Street.
Baehr said the apartments would include hardwood floors, front and rear exits, 12-foot ceilings, windows and laundry rooms. The interior apartments would also feature skylights, he said.
Baehr said the building's 10,000-square-foot ground floor would be used in the future for commercial space.
The apartments will be added to the approximately 100 apartments already located downtown that have had tremendous success in recent years.
"One of the reasons people are building more apartments downtown is because the occupancy rates have always been so high – between 98 and 100 percent," said Jerri Greene, executive director of the Spartanburg Development Council.
"It just makes sense to use a large building for apartments."
And with Wild Wing Café renovating the former Greenwalds building nearby at the corner of East Main and Church streets, downtown is continuing to grow.
"The urban lifestyle is particularly appealing to young people and the apartments fit in nicely with what's going on downtown," Greene said.

Sounds like there is a trend towards more urban living. I am glad to hear that Spartanburg doesn't let this opportunity slip away. Any photos of that area?

Yes, but at the moment I can't get my Netscape thing to work, so until it starts working I have no way to post my photos.
