It's a Jimmy John's that's coming into the old FSBO building behind the White Station Starbuck's on Poplar.  They're a midwestern chain and their prices are very reasonable ($5 for a 9" sandwich, chips and a drink).

The Jimmy John's near Vanderbilt along West End in Nashville seems to do very well, so I would speculate a location in the White Station area along Poplar would do similarly well if marketed correctly.

Great news, by the way Jimmy john's is a great sub shop that exist in many college towns. I go to school in Fayetteville and we have two, and they stay open and deliver until 2 am. If it is located by the University of Memphis, it will do very well.
Omaha has several that do well too.  That's actually the first place I had it. I'd bet money they have plans to open more in the Memphis area.  I think a Midtown location would do well too.

Naturally!  Me too.  Panera was one of the plusses of moving to Omaha.

Recent uptick in Downtown restaurant openings.  Haven't tried any of these yet, but they sound good, especially the Chop House.  http://memphis.bizjo...6053200^1555018

In a market where restaurant concepts seem to be floated but often don't pan out, Panera's decision to open in the Memphis market seems to be coming to fruition (courtesy of the Daily News): http://www.memphisda...?id=37500#37500

MBJ has an article detailing the comings and goings of downtown Memphis restaurants.  Good to see another concept in the old Swig space.  Looks like this period is just a tough one given the economy, a maturing downtown restaurant market, and uncertainty about downtown commercial real estate.

It's getting tough downtown for restaurants for a myriad of reasons.  Stella, Jillians, Lolo's Table, EP's Delta Kitchen and others.  Now Cafe 61 and Blues City Pastry have announced their closures.  Looks like the Silly Goose will replace Swig and a sports bar will replace Jillian's.  The recession combined with a tough downtown market with not enough employees is now a rough one for restaurants.  Hopefully things will improve soon.  From the MBJ:  http://memphis.bizjo...26/daily17.html
