Most cities have a street, boulevard that as soon as you mention it names you immediately think of that place. If someone mentions, (for example) Sunset Boulevard, most people will immediately think of Los Angeles and Hollywood. So, share your city's Signature or Famous street(s)...

for Atlanta...
Peachtree Street

for Miami...
Ocean Drive

You're so right about that. It can get confusing at times.

For Memphis, all things revolve around Poplar.

Franklin St in Chapel Hill

Bragg Blvd in Fayetteville

King St in Boone

Independence Blvd in Charlotte (Providence?  Central?  Queens?)

Glenwood Av, Hillsborough St & Capitol Blvd in Raleigh

9th St in Durham

Montford Av or Tunnel Rd in Asheville?

Some of these aren't so attractive, and some of the cities might wish they were a little less well-known, but I think all of 'em are comparatively famous (in NC at least) and identified with the cities they are in...

It ain't much, but, Decatur's signature street is 2nd Ave.  It's really a tie between it and Bank St.  Both have excellent restaraunts and shops.  But, I only have a picture of 2nd Ave.  It's where the AmSouth Tower and Princess Theatre are situated.

Ahah, I knew I was leaving one out.  Holcomb where's that one go.  Of course State Bridge is Old Milton.  I know that Jones Bridge intersects with State Br. and then goes out to somewhere and hits Old Alabama.  And Hanes Bridge is out at that P-something Parkway, dang, I can't remember.  It's been about 5 months since I've been down there.

Those may be well known but they're far from "signature" streets. Asheville's main drag downtown suffers from an identity crisis and a severe case of dismemberment so it's probably not as famous as it should be. It used to be called "Main Street" (around the turn of the century), but that was changed to "Broadway Street" north of Pack Square and "Biltmore Avenue" to the south. To make matters worse, there are two discontiguous segments of Broadway (one north and the other south of I-240.) The road called Broadway south of I-240 (downtown) actually becomes Merrimon Avenue when it crosses I-240, while the road called Broadway north of I-240 becomes Lexington Avenue as it crosses into downtown. The section Asheville's former "Main Street" that is downtown and is actually called Broadway is only three blocks long! Hence the obscurity.

For ours - Bristol, Tennessee-Virginia - its State Street.  The state line runs down the center of the road in the old downtown district.  The far west in is West State St. and the far east end is East State St. of course.

Another well known highway that runs through town is Volunteer Parkway, which is the same road as Bristol Motor Speedway - so its extremely well known- especially since this road is a short cut between I-26 and I-81 in the metro area.

There are a few others that are well known/used- but these are the most popular.
