In New Orleans, it's definately Canal Street.

Bourbon St
St. Charles Ave.-This street can be considered to be as wide as or wider than Canal.

Isn't every street in Atlanta named Peachtree?

In case this was a serious comment and because I think that a lot of people really believe that there is more than one Peachtree Street in Atlanta - there is only ONE Peachtree Street.  The confusion comes from all of the street names with peachtree as a part of the name.  Peachtree Center Ave, Peachtree Industrial Ave., West Peachtree St, etc...there are many others.  It's not even really confusing if you READ the signs.  :)

The other street that is recognizeable outside of Atlanta is Auburn Ave.  aka "Sweet Auburn".

Haha, I may be the only one on this forum that knows this one, but any Clemson fans know what I'm talking about...In Clemson it's gotta be Sloan St.

Well, its official.  Its been approved to change the name of Edgemont Avenue in Bristol, TN and adjoining Randall Expressway in Bristol, VA (near downtown) will be renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (or drive).  I think the changes will be made on the road signs in late spring.

Also, the city of Bristol, TN is undergoing street sign changes.  ALL of the steet signs are being replaced with brand new larger signs with bigger letters.  A very welcomed and needed change.  The changes have already started and I think should be complete by the end of the year.

If I had to pick one for Charlotte, it'd be Tryon St. (the skyscraper "canyon").  Also-rans include Queens Rd., Elizabeth Ave., and South Blvd.

I would say it's just the President Clinton/Markham (same street).  That's the densest and most vibrant part of the metro.

If there were a second "signature street" in the region, I would say it would be Kavanaugh because it winds through the old Heights and Hillcrest neighborhoods and there are a ton of restaurants and speciality shops.

Monument Avenue is tops in Richmond, but West Cary Street (Carytown) as well as any street in The Fan District or Church Hill would turn heads.

I'd disagree on Orlando. That is not within city limits, so technically, doesn't count, plus its mainly touristy anyways. Orlando's is either Orange Avenue, Colonial Drive, or the 408.

Miami, is either Biscayne BLVD, or Brickell AVE.

Reference was made in earlier posts that our ideas for "signature" streets should be one street that defines the city in a way and offers a variety of shopping/dining/entertainment options. I guess that's what I was going for. While Int'l Dr. may not be within city limits and a bit of a tourist trap, I guarantee it sticks out in more visitor's minds perhaps just a little bit more than Colonial or Orange, and certainly alot more than 408. For a city known for its many tourist attractions, why not have a street that's basically a big tourist trap?

As for Calle Ocho in Miami, I believe it's the signature street because it contains alot authentic Cuban restaurants and shops. It's arguably regarded as Miami's most famous street by residents and tourists alike and there's even the Calle Ocho Festival that's held each year, one of the world's largest block parties and street festivals. Not to mention that 8th St. is a major thoroughfare in Miami.

Definitely Monument Avenue in Richmond, VA. At last check, it is the only street in America on the National Register of Historic Places.

In Fayetteville NC its Hay street. The city has been cleaning up the areafor a couple of decades now and have finally got the ball rolling. New condos and apartments have opened downtown and there is new festival park that opened up recently. Unfortunately I dont have pics of the new developments but will get some real soon.
