I grew up in the Kansas City area but have been away at school since 2003. I currently live in Detroit so I won't be much help with posting the pictures, but I was hoping someone out there could help with that.
I can't wait to move back in December.

Since there was no help I went and found some on the net.
This is a classic picture, and every since I was little this is a picture that pops in my head when I think of the city.

This is a pic taken off of the channel 9 website of this years plaza lighting ceremony.
I couldn't attend, but from the looks it was a good time, like always.

I made my first trip to downtown Kansas City since the Power and Light District was finished- WOW! That area has turned out to be a beehive of activity and a lot of fun. Between the public facilities that were already in place and the new ones there is room for a half dozen major events to occur at the same time. The new Sprint Center is the place for major concerts and sporting events while Bartle Hall and the Municipal Auditorium do well for expos and smaller events. Midland Theater is still the grande dame of concert halls and an expectionally beautiful building inside. Here's a few photos all from the P&L District area.
1. Here's the AMC Mainstreet Theater- a well restored buiding and an outstanding movie-going experience.
2. The modern buildings that make up the heart of Kansas City's downtown, from the district.
3. The Sprint Center that amazingly fits right into the area.
