Wow those pics were taken a couple of days ago ( I think last weekend). The first four pics are from the stores around the city's square (Plaza Colon/ Columbus Plaza) The 8th pic is the Yaguez Theater (is undergoing a major restauration) the ninth pic is the symbol of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus (UPRM), its called the "Portico" and is a replica of the entrance of the campus first building dating back to 1911. The building was destroyed by the 1918 earthquake. The other pic is the city hall and the last one is Post street and I agree with Rican, those cable are no longer there. :)

The following pics are renders of some structures that are going to be build in Mayaguez for the celebration of the Central American and Caribbean Games 2010.

In the first image we can see the core of the city of Mayaguez and some projects that are going to be build and their locations. The red lines are streets and avenues that are going to be expanded. The yellow areas are elevated intersections that are going to be build, three to be exact along Highway #2. The new Central American Stadium (cap. 16,000)  and the new Baseball Stadium (cap. 10,500 expandible to 15,000). Upgrades to existing facilities like the Mayaguez Coliseum, UPRM's Coliseum and numerous sports venues along the city and nearby towns. A new waterfront 1.6 miles long, a new natatorium (3 inside pools UPRM's existing pool)  and a new tennis complex both to be build inside UPRM.

In the second image, the green areas shown are new parks and green spaces that are going to be created and/or maintained. The yellow lines are the roads that are going to be expanded along the new elevated sections (transformation of Highway #2 into an expressway). Also you can see the location of the new venues that are coming to town.

The third, fourth and fifth images are renders of the new waterfront. The expansion of road 102, the baywalk and some structures that are going to be build along the baywalk. Estimated cost of the new waterfront  $20 million dollars.

The Central American Village will consist of  4 buildings (6-story high) with a total of 96 residential units per building (16 units per floor/story) for a grand total of 385 units.  Each unit will consist of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry and balcony area. The complex will have a parking lot with 770 spaces (two for each apartment) and an International Zone that will consist of a 75,000 s/f building which after the games will be use for commercial and office spaces. Estimated cost $80 million dollars.

Site of the new Tennis complex that will consist of 8 new tennis courts with an additional central court area with capacity for 2000 people.

This map shows are the new sports facilities that are going to be build or upgrated along the island. The host city is Mayaguez but as you can see almost all Puerto Rico is going to participate in the games.

The estimated cost of the entire infrastructure for the games including are the sports facilities, the Central American Village, the roads expansions, elevated sections and other developments designed for this games are around $1.6 billion dollars which are going to come from the government and the private sector.

I will try to find the render for the Central American Stadium and other facilities.
