csx, ITS REALLY 70'S , and the riverfront location, they should make the most incredible piece of architecture in J-ville with all their assets

That's the mentality that has caused the demise of the entire La Villa and eastside neighborhoods, not to mention the multitude of downtown hotels and other structures.  The CSX building isn't the prettiest, but it shouldn't be destroyed, IMO.  Give it a few more years and it may be the new "historical" building

Suntrust residents might be pissed for their view being blocked!

Then they'll just have to build a taller tower to get their views back.  ;)

It hit a snag because the site was tied to the City's obligation to provide parking for the Landing.  Kuhn has agreed to set aside spaces in the new Riverwatch garage to fulfill this obligation.  Supposedly all is finalized and construction will start this summer (next month maybe).  Kuhn is serious about getting this thing built so its just a matter of time.

Downtown, Kuhn Cos. says it will break ground in two months to start site work for the long-awaited parking deck and tower near The Jacksonville Landing.

Glad to hear this project still has legs.  I love this building - it fits so perfectly.  I can only hope that 300 S. Tryon here in Charlotte will turn out as good as this.

Kuhn Projects being Re-evaluated

Friday, 15 June 2007

According to Cameron Kuhn, CEO of Kuhn Companies, the River Watch site next to the SunTrust Building (and across the street from The Jacksonville Landing) will become a hotel, not Residential Condominums as previously planned.

Kuhn spoke to a small group in Jacksonville Thursday night, just hours after signing the papers for the purchase of Orlando's Church Street Station, and discussed Downtown revitalization, and how the residential condominium market is softening.  He said that while, "the design was all ready to go" he was changing courses with the site.  At this point, designs for the hotel have not been released.

Read the rest here.

I really hope this development pulls through in whatever form.  We just need that damn parking lot filled!

Is this one dead?

Haven't heard anything about this one in ages, nor the other proposed condo tower near Baptist Hospital.

This is most likely dead.  Kuhn is facing bankruptcy.....

Of all of the proposals for downtown, if there was only one tower built in the next 10 years I would want it to be this one.  This would have been true enhancement to the skyline.  Oh well.  I wish the best for Cameron Kuhn and hope that he is able to dig his way out of his financial troubles and come back bigger and stronger.
