This candyass isn't going to get himself riled up until he hears what is actually happening here. Rumor and speculation helps nothing.
Can we have some facts please? Most important fact, what exactly is Lombardi expected to do? This is private property, the owner has rights, and there are procedures for eviction. Now if there is some sort of dispute between the owner and the tenant and Lombardi thinks he can mediate a compromise, I'm all for it.
Unfortnuately, there is little that can probably be done in this particular instance. A lease is a lease, and a building owner is free to non-renew within the bounds of the lease.
But there are larger, more abstract problems here that really need to be addressed. As has been discussed many times, the "G-word" can be used for good and evil - but if local, very socially/culturally-active business owners (and Joanne is one of the most active) are forced out, either literally or figuratively (by rising cost of business) - it is not good for the neighborhood and the city as a whole.
