Anyone know whats up with the old Daily Bread building on Broadway? Paper up in the windows, new coat of paint...
I heard they were sprucing it up to help with the curb appeal in an effort to sell it.

Hudson Street Market is now re-opened as Hudson Street Deli - Woo!
http://westsidestori...-deli/#more-299

Just wanted to add that I've been enjoying the return of Hudson Street.  Very friendly service (on a first name basis now, the signage doesn't lie); great sandwiches (including breakfast), and I love the fact that they're open 6 am to 8 pm.  The interior looks great, as do the Steelyard pieces (trash can & bike rack) outside.

Scurvy Dog opens tonight - 7pm

Somebody tagged the crap out of it this weekend. Lame.
I just found out about this place last week.  Went there for a drink on New Years.  Its a nice place, reasonably priced drinks.  I recommend it!  I guess when the building changed colors from green to black I stopped noticing it - plus its way more interesting to listen to my vehicle break while driving off Route 10 ramp over that p.o.s. section of Westminster St. toward O Square.

That piece of road really annoys me though.  The road is so deteriorated that many Valley Street-bound vehicles now only use the far left lane coming off the ramp and then cut into the right lane later (which can be dangerous) because the right lane is just totally FUBAR.  I emailed my councilman about this, since there are so many stimulus road projects going on around town, but I got no response.  The rest of the main roads in Olneyville, it seems, have been completely overhauled.  How bad does it have to get before it gets fixed?

2 posts in one.  Good bar. :alc:   Bad road.

I imagine any fixes to the roads in that area are waiting for the replacement of the 6/10 interchange, which would replace most roads. Don't want to fix it now just to rebuild it later. Of course I have no idea what the current timeline is for that project and actually would prefer to see something far different than anything that is currently proposed.

That exit is horrible. That's the exit I take when I'm coming home from anywhere south of Providence. I feel like my tires are gonna fall off just driving over it (I'm one of the nice people who actually uses the correct lane when turning, much to the detriment of my car).

If the timeline is any longer than a year or so, they should really repave that exit ramp intersection.

So I notice that there is work going on again at the site across from WBNA where the co-op is supposed to open. Does anyone know if they are actually moving fwd again?

Also on Westminster St, US GAS is reopened and a new used car lot on the corner of Courtland & Westminster has opened with a decidedly upscale selection of cars parked out front. (Porsche Cayenne anyone?). Metropolis Salon across the street has closed.

Looks like equipment is back onsite across from WBNA - Does this mean they are moving fwd?

Other Westminster St goings on:

US Gas reopened as WE Gas. Maybe next time it will be I Gas or You Gas
Used Car Lot opened on the corner of Westminster & Courtland with a decidedly upscale selection of cars. (Porsche Cayenne anyone?)
Metropolis Salon is closed. For rent sign is up.

Great news, I noticed some signs of life on the site the other day.  I hope it stays on track and keeps its tenants once open. Too bad about the business on the first floor of the [new] building on Westminster and Harrison.

Has anyone tried Ama's yet, in Luongo Square? My neighbor said she liked it a lot, I've been meaning to get there myself....

U.S. official praises development in Olneyville, South Providence

A federal housing official said Friday that the “sustainable and livable” community development taking shape in the distressed communities of Olneyville and South Providence are the type of projects the Department of Housing and Urban Development is encouraging.

Just saw that Mojo's on Broadway is shut down and turning into a Mexican restaurant opening on Cinco De Mayo (May 5th). Same owners as the old Turtle Soup, so hopefully it turns out good!
