Just wanted to add that I've been enjoying the return of Hudson Street. Very friendly service (on a first name basis now, the signage doesn't lie); great sandwiches (including breakfast), and I love the fact that they're open 6 am to 8 pm. The interior looks great, as do the Steelyard pieces (trash can & bike rack) outside.

Somebody tagged the crap out of it this weekend. Lame.
That piece of road really annoys me though. The road is so deteriorated that many Valley Street-bound vehicles now only use the far left lane coming off the ramp and then cut into the right lane later (which can be dangerous) because the right lane is just totally FUBAR. I emailed my councilman about this, since there are so many stimulus road projects going on around town, but I got no response. The rest of the main roads in Olneyville, it seems, have been completely overhauled. How bad does it have to get before it gets fixed?

That exit is horrible. That's the exit I take when I'm coming home from anywhere south of Providence. I feel like my tires are gonna fall off just driving over it (I'm one of the nice people who actually uses the correct lane when turning, much to the detriment of my car).
If the timeline is any longer than a year or so, they should really repave that exit ramp intersection.

Also on Westminster St, US GAS is reopened and a new used car lot on the corner of Courtland & Westminster has opened with a decidedly upscale selection of cars parked out front. (Porsche Cayenne anyone?). Metropolis Salon across the street has closed.

Great news, I noticed some signs of life on the site the other day. I hope it stays on track and keeps its tenants once open. Too bad about the business on the first floor of the [new] building on Westminster and Harrison.
Has anyone tried Ama's yet, in Luongo Square? My neighbor said she liked it a lot, I've been meaning to get there myself....

A federal housing official said Friday that the “sustainable and livable” community development taking shape in the distressed communities of Olneyville and South Providence are the type of projects the Department of Housing and Urban Development is encouraging.
