Berlin's Tempelhof Airport may well be closed in 2008 if city planners have their way. While creating a new and expanded airport at Schoenfeld may be a good idea, it would be tragic to see this great landmark destroyed. An inventive plan to turn it into a medical complex with a smaller airport and luxury hotel appears to have merit, if not official support. There is too much histoy here to simply pave it over.
