The new owner of the historic Settles Hotel in Big Spring plans to inject life back into the long-shuttered Art Deco tower in downtown Big Spring. The hotel's checkered history has included visits from Herbert Hoover and the DuPonts and a time when the neon sign on the roof denoted the availability of prostitutes within the building. With any luck, the plans will proceed and the building will spark a renewal in this small Texas city. Big Spring has a remarkable collection of solid buildings which could be reused nicely.
