Couldn't really find a thread or a place for transport related photos.  I take photos from planes and of planes when I travel.  Have taken some fun shots.  If there is already a thread for this, maybe a moderator can merge.

I may have posted this photo elsewhere in the forum before, but I'll place it here too.  I took this pic in 2005 on Market Street in San Francisco.  The cool thing about it is that almost every mode of surface transportation is visible here.  In this pic you'll see:

automobiles
a streetcar
a bus
a person on bicycle
people walking
a taxicab
entrance to the BART and MUNI subways
and at the end of the street, a ferry terminal.

Too bad it was such a dark, rainy day.

Here are a couple of shots I took of stations on the Lakeshore Electric line in Chicago. These are not actual "subways" in the traditional sense, although the stations seem that way. The line runs below grade alongside Michigan Ave.

More transit goodness for you all:

Train station in Harajuku, Tokyo. This is for the Yamanote train line, Tokyo's most important line that makes a large loop of the inner city.

Buses in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Definitely a great way to get around the city.

Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Here you can see a double deck tram and a double deck bus.

Boats and ferries can be considered transit, too.

Sumida river cruise in Tokyo. Takes about 40 minutes to travel from Asakusa to Odaiba by boat.

It is a great way to see the city.

The Star Ferry is a very important means of public transportation in Hong Kong, even today after when road and subway tunnels connect Hong Kong Island with Kowloon.

Posted Image

The ferries are inexpensive and transport 70,000 passengers a day.

The ships can hold up to 576 passengers.

Great thread indeed.

On the subject of transportation related pictures, The Alliance for Biking & Walking just announced the winners of their "2009 People Powered Movement Photo Contest". See the winning shots here:
