When was the last time you were in/paid attention to Newport?

A couple weeks ago, hence my question. Did I offend you somehow?

No, no offense taken. But in Newport, plenty of people are talking about what's happened at Christie's. It's like walking into Providence and not knowing about One Ten.

There are tens of thousands of people in Providence who are ignorant of what is going on at OneTen.

Of course, and there are people in Newport who have no clue about what's happening at Christie's.

I was just expressing surprise that you weren't aware of the goings-on at Christie's, considering it had been discussed on this board before and you seem to have an interest in Rhode Island development issues. My exclamation wasn't meant as an insult, or as anything personal. It was just an expression of surprise. Whew. Tempest in a teapot!

The development at Christie's is endemic of the changing tourism marketplace at large. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

An upscale address.

Developers of a condominium project under way in the heart of historic Newport say they are confident their effort will both help reshape one of the nation’s most-visited thoroughfares and thrive in today’s gloomy housing market.

In much the same way that decades of graffiti provided a modern counterpoint to the Masonic Temple in Providence.  :ermm:

Restored 1831 mill reopens in Newport. Thanks in large part to state and federal tax credits, the 1831 Aquidneck Mill once again is a functioning center of commerce along the waterfront.
