Every time I go by on the 60 bus, I always look out just north of downtown Warren and wonder what will become of the giant 16-acre mill complex that sprawls along the Warren River (click for map). I can't believe I hadn't heard of this proposal until now...

From the ProJo:
RIAPA leads tour of Warren & Tourister site for developers and planners [7/28/06]
Tourister Mill developer toys with the idea of tidal energy [9/20/06]
Detailed proposal aired before Warren Planning Board [1/9/07]

The proposal is all residential...I'm with the guy from the Warren Preservation Society: where are the jobs? Other than that, it sounds good...

I'm in Warren semi-often, and last time I was there I was wondering the same thing.

I love Warren.  It's like the gritty urban town of the East Bay.

Developers of the former Samsonite mill in Warren envision a mixed-use development that opens the waterfront to the town. http://www.pbn.com/stories/25133.html

Quote

The two “penthouse” stories would raise the height of the existing structure to 80 feet, Maher said. That would make it tower above the surrounding neighborhood, which is composed mostly of three-family and single-family homes that are less than 35 feet tall.

Cast no shadow!

In the snap of a finger, Warren seems to have nixed a development that would have shifted the old American Tourister plant from manufacturing to residential, with 350 condos and 40,000 square feet of retail.

this article provides a pretty good update on many of the East Bay projects...
