The city of Irving has entered negotiations with Forest City Enterprises to redevelop the Teaxs Stadium site after the Cowboys begin play in the new Arlington Stadium in 2009.

Irving city officials announced Thursday their plans to build an expansive urban district, complete with a DART rail station, hotels, civic buildings, residences and a park above State Highway 114 on the current stadium site.


The total cost of the project is expected to reach ~2 billion. The first phase of the project is expected to be complete in 2012 with total buildout expected to be reached in 2022.

Another article on SkyPark, what this development is now being called. The total area of the project is ~380 acres including the stadium site and surrounding land. The city of Irving is planning to create a special tax district to pay for infrastructure upgrades.

Man, i know alot of grown men (including my self) that will be there crying when Texas Stadium is laid to rest.  But times change, nothing can last forever.

Well, tomorrow (April 11) is the day that Texas Stadium comes down. The implosion will happen at 7am local time and can be seen on the city of Irving's website :http://www.ci.irving...dium/index.html

Is anything happening with SkyPark?  It's been over a year since the last post on the subject...
