Two things:

1. Most people in Easley do their shopping in Greenville, not Anderson.  Woodruff Road is a faster trip than Clemson Boulevard, and has much more to offer in terms of selection.

2. Woodruff Road traffic is MUCH more congested than Clemson Boulevard.  It's not even close.  Woodruff Road has the highest traffic counts in the state, yes?

(of note is the fact that Haywood used to be the busiest road in the state...I would be interested to know when it lost that title, and to which road).

^^^Clemson Blvd. is just as busy if not worse than Woodruff Rd. Drive down there near Best Buy during lunch time and see if you don't believe me. Obviously you can't though, because you're in good ole chucktown. :)

^^^If you want this to become like the Shops at Gridlock with deadlock traffic then contact the developer and tell them to change the plans around just for you. Thinking Clemson Blvd. has less traffic than Woodruff Rd. is just sad too.

What have you been smokin, gman? Clemson Blvd can't even begin to compare to Woodruff Rd. I've seen the traffic counts from DOT. I'll try and remember to look up the numbers next time I get a chance. And knowing your track record, I'd be willing to bet that you have said that Woodruff Road is the busiest in the state within the past week or two.

I haven't been on Woodruff Rd. in the past week or two. Drive down Clemson Blvd. in front of Circuit City and Best Buy on any weekday during lunch and do the same on Woodruff Rd. on a different day and you can easily compare the traffic nightmares on both roads. You show me the DOT facts that shows Woodruff Rd. is the busiest in the state then i'll believe you.

What I do know is that if you want to do any real shopping in Anderson, you have to drive along Clemson Boulevard, likely a fair distance.  Try this on a weekend when you're hungry.  I'll take the Woodruff Road options versus traffic over that stretch every time.

It pretty much states the facts. I didn't know they were going for 'multicounty' status though.

The article also mentions the sale of the former Tri-County landfill.  Is that what you're thinking of?

Regarding the new center, I do not care what it is called; it just needs to be built.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, it is my understanding that all County Council doesn't support about the project is the use of what would be public money to build it and the improvements necessary for it. If the developer wants to build it without public financing then they can, right?

Thats what I took from it. And yeah I got the landfill mixed up with this site. I obviously skimmed the article too quickly.

Wow, I live in Powdersville and would never think of going all the way to Anderson to go shopping.  I can go to Woodruff Road to do some shopping and be back home in almost half the time it would take me to go to Anderson and shop.  It takes just 15 mins to go to Best Buy on Woodruff.  I don't know anyone who lives around me that goes all the way to Anderson to shop also.

In regard to previous posts. The traffic counts on Clemson Blvd. are right around 30,000 Vehicles per day, the traffic counts on Woodruff Road are closer to 40,000 vehicles per day. The busiest non-interstate road in the state if I am remembering correctly is Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.

In regard to Easley Town Center, the development will still be moving forward, it just might change some of the non-retail aspects of the site from my understanding.

I want to revise my previous traffic count comment. The 2 busiest non-interstate roads are Highway 17 Bypass and Highway 501 down in Myrtle Beach.

Looks like a Best Buy will be going into Easley Town Center if it gets built. Check out the building labeled "Retail F" on this leasing plan and notice the shape of the building and where the cars can pull in on the right hand side of it: http://www.cedarwood.....sing Plan.pdf

Yes, but the front of this store kind of looks like it has the Best Buy shape to it. I could be wrong though.

Regardless who it is, it does have the makings of an electronics store.
