Also, i dont think they are using accurate estimations of springfields population since the last census, becuase its going up, not down.  I think the 2010 census will show springfield has acctually grown, because there have been a lot of apartments added inside city limits since 2000.

Oh yeah, I lives in apartment... which have four floors! I see everywhere apartment complexes around the city limit!

, I got Springfield MSA 2006 numbers from last April. I just have no patience for these numbers because I want to beat Springfield, MA by about 2,000 population... since Springfield, MA have been slow declining. So, we can be number #1 in nation by "Springfield".

Surprising... I found this out from West Sunshine/Highway 60 Corridor Study for improvement plans between Republic and Springfield's precious road. Reports from Republic & Springfield and Greene County for estimates population of Spfd MSA ...

yes it is the fastest growing percentage wise... thats how they determine the high growth rates per MSA.  I wouldn't doubt it if we reach 800,000 people by 2030.  This area attracts so many Cali's and young people because of the universities, cheap housing costs, and all the things to do.  Plus Branson is becoming a second Vegas, just wait until the first casino goes in and then we will really see how much branson will boom.

"Casino" in Branson is kinda scary.... seems impossible. But I wouldn't say it won't be there. It would be the shocking news ever in my life if Branson allow it happens.

According to U.S. Census Bureau, Spfd MSA ranked 49th in the country's 100 fastest-growing metro areas!  Spfd MSA is growing and doing well with strong economic!

Incredible. Almost 100K increased by four years! For reality, about 70K increased without Polk County.

thanks for posting that pyaxi!  It's crazy that we are growing this fast... I would'nt doubt it if we hit 450,000 mark by 2010, plus we will most likely get lawrence county added before then and maybe Stone and Taney.  Right now our CSA (With Branson Micropolitan Area) is about 520,000 people!

I was doing some researching on economic for Springfield, and finds it hard to believe that we're highest than seven surrounding states (you can see list of cities, click link below this)  for employment growth.

My first thought came on my mind was, "How that's possible?"

The thing I can't figure out is how they say that we grew by more than 10,000 people from the 2006-2007 time period but 420,000 - 407,000 is 13,000 people not ten.  Maybe it's just a margin of error number.?  Another thing that makes my mind boggle is how they predict that the Springfield city proper is losing people.  There has been SOOOOOO many new apartments added within the last four years its hard to even count, plus there is still more neigborhoods going in everywhere.  I bet once the official 2010 census comes out Springfield will have gained a good 5,000 people from the last 10 years.

Yes!!! This is what I have been saying all along... I know some of you have too.  I saw something on KY3 the other night about Springfield city proper gaining instead of losing people, but they didn't give a number or source.  Thanks Pyaxi!!

July 1, 2008 resident population of Springfield is now 156,400.  It looks like we might eclipse the 160,000 mark if this growth keeps up, and a lot more if anything is annexed.  BTW, Springfield has never lost population since 2000.  The census numbers are now showing that Springfield has been 152,000 and above since the year 2000.  

Now if we can get the OTO to do a better job with expanding city roads.

2009 Springfield City Population: 157,630 a gain of 1,326 residents from a year ago.  I have a feeling that we will exceed the 160,000 mark when the 2010 census is done.

Plus I spoke with a census rep. last month when they came into my complex and he told me that Springfield will very likely form a Combined Statisticle Area, or CSA, with Branson and Lebanon Micropolitan Area's.  It would become the Springfield-Branson-Lebanon, MO CSA with a population of almost 600,000 people!!!

600,000, interesting concept. Springfield-Branson-Lebanon sound funny. My old friend live at Rogersville, told me that west of 125 Hwy would become giant park, several people donated their park to Greene County, but actually I'm pretty sure it would become part of Springfield because Greene County doesn't have administration for park. But don't take it serious, it's just a rumor at all such as like Disney at Nesho.

After adding up the the Springfield MSA and the Branson & Lebanon MSA's, the population would come to over 565,000.  But who knows... Maybe once the 2010 numbers are in we will have over 600,000!! LOL

New Springfield MSA population 2010: 436,712. So far, it have been increased about 6K since from 2009 which is 436K.

I'm wondering when the heck they will add Lawrence County to the MSA.  That would put the MSA at 475,000.  BTW Springfield city proper is now at 159,498.  This may seem like a small gain over 10 years but more importantly the city gained the majority of the 7,500 people from 2006-2010, so the gains are picking up year after year.  The Branson CSA is also gaining more than thought.  The Branson Micro MSA is over 83,000 now.  If Springfield and Branson are designated a CSA it would be over 520,000.
