A local real estate blog has stated Trader Joe's is looking to open a downtown location at Park Ave & Second St.

Trader Joe's along with two Lunds and Whole Foods would add a nice mix to downtown grocery needs.

Here's the possible location:

Well, it looks as though people living in the downtown area (including myself) will have to continue driving to St. Louis Park to shop at Trader Joe's (at least for the time being).

According to the Star Tribune a lack of parking has "killed" plans for a Trader Joe's at Park Ave & Second St.  The article stated the store is interested but wants 60 to 80 parking spaces, which is too many.  The city zoned the site for only 20 spaces.

Trader Joe's currently has a store in St. Louis Park and is opening another in Woodbury.

Well, it sucks that they won't be coming downtown, but it is a bit ridiculous to demand that many parking spaces, especially in a downtown location.

I wouldn't say they aren't coming downtown. They just aren't moving into that particular site. They could very well become part of a development that offers or will offer underground parking.
