Kings avenue Station to Break Ground Soon

The Southbank's next major urban infill project on the horizon is scheduled to break ground before this Summer.  The Chase Properties, Inc development is expected to be under construction for 18 months before opening its doors in late 2008/early 2009.

Ride in the Sky

Public transportation in Downtown Jacksonville could be up in the air -- literally.

Local developer Mike Balanky hopes to establish a committee of public officials and local business owners next month to consider the feasibility of and possible funding mechanisms for an aerial cable car system that could link the Southbank to the Northbank from the Kings Avenue parking garage to the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

This project will be a huge boost for the area and look great from the highway.  There are tons of existing structures that could benefit from the bizz this will generate and allow for some interesting infill to follow.

Aerial cable car system?  What is this, a ski resort?    I think that a system like this would be well used for Jags games but severely underused otherwise.

I like the idea of building mid-rise hotels in SaN Marco. I really like how this project is developing and I think that it will undoubtedly bring more traffic to the skyway. Downtown needs a strong connection from one side of the river to the other, and the skyway could do it if it can be improved. It's good to be back guys! It's been far too long..
