There are at least 3 structures that I can see west of congress that are 5+ stories already.  I can make out the AMLI building as the frame work looks to be near completion.  But I have trouble depicting which building is which other than AMLI.

I might be able to get pics when I travel through downtown on Wednesdays.

You bet!  Just so happens that I took some 'drive-bys' this weekend. I focussed primarily on the 3 most active projects downtown:
AMLI 2, which has topped out, 360 condos (up to 15 stories), and Monarch (16-17 stories):

Start with Monarch...

This is taken from West avenue, just south of W 5th Street

Nice pictures.  My own camera/computer dont seem to be getting along with eachother.  June is far away, but that is when I think I can post pictures.  Imagine the progress that will be made by that time.  The AMLI building should be completely dressed in glass by then.

Hey guys, I have a few more pics to share.  These shots were taken this morning, a VERY clear and sunny morning... All from the midtown area, about 2 miles north of UT campus:Overall shot... notice AMLI2 on the far right...

Posted Image

The Monarch .. I believe it is now in the 18-19 story range. Counting the crown, the Monarch should peek above the South Austin horizon, from this vantage point, when complete.

Nice.  Is that glass I see on the 360?  If so, I imagine it would be some sort of test?

Yep!  Looks like they are starting with work on the facade.  Thats fairly common with high rise construction.. the outer cladding starts rising well before the building's frame has topped out.

BTW... it looks like the entire 17th floor is now complete...giving you a good idea of the footprint of the remainder of the tower, up to the 44th floor.   Work should begin on the 18th early this week...and really begin to rise fast!  Additionally, the height of the crane will increase at some time over the next 10 days.

The crane of Monarch was raised yesterday. Here's a shot I just took a few minutes ago, from the north. The crane is now well above the horizon...

Agreed!  FYI.. those huge transmission lines in the foreground were installed within the past few years. I believe they were related to the adjacent Triangle project.  It kind of ruined the view from my perspective!
