You know with gas prices as they are, and air fare as it is, and the general craptitude of the flying experience, and the current trend for staycations... This might make a really good location for oh, I don't know, an amusement park!

Editorial: Rocky Point goes public!
Getting the 41 cherished acres into the public domain has been an exciting ride — a roller-coaster, we dare say — with an excited editorial in these pages at each high point and a silent gulp as each deal unraveled.

One of the things that led to the demise of Rocky Point was the influx of modern giant theme parks, but lately the industry has been swinging back towards smaller (and a lot cheaper) family parks. In New England Canobie Lake in NH and Lake Compounce in CT both do a great business and are smaller, family oriented, and a lot less money than 6flags. We just got back from a trip to Knoebels Grove in PA which is an amazing example of an old style family park that has managed to expand and flourish despite being family owned, not themed, and in the middle of nowhere. I think that Rocky Point could totally work again, and in the past it has gone 10years+ between rebuilds, so why not now. It would also probably be a great spot for a waterpark, although I'm not too keen on waterparks personally. I vote for an amusement Park. Or maybe a sweet strip mall with a Kohls. That would be good too - There is nowhere on Warwick Neck to buy slacks.

When I was a kid we always went to the amusement parks in Cow Hampshire, Story Land and the like. Kids really don't know the difference between those places and Six Flags type places (teenagers might, but not the little ones). Oh and Lincoln Park in Dartmouth and the one at Nantasket Beach in Hull, I forget what it was called.
