Looks like Springfield's first wave of redevelopment is starting to pick up. First with the Mass Mutual Center Renovation, then the announcement of River's Landing at the old Hall of Fame, and now this Hotel development.
"I feel very positive and confident that once the project moves forward, it definitely will be a stimulus for the economy in Springfield to help create more jobs and training individuals in a professional atmosphere," Charlotin said. "The development corporation is committed to empowering constituents."
Both Baymon and Charlotin said there is a clear need for an added hotel in the downtown area.
Regarding taxes, Baymon said the church displayed its tax responsibility when it purchased the property in 2003, paying $302,123 in delinquent taxes and approximately $100,000 in interest in 2005. The developer received a waiver on another $100,000 in interest, under a city tax incentive program.
The development corporation has a franchise agreement with Wyndham Worldwide for the hotel plans. In addition, Jamsan Hotel Management of Lexington will manage the hotel, he said.
The hotel will include conference room space.

WOW! thats a great building.
Its almost a shame that its not going to be turned into residences, but if a hotel is needed then this will be great.
The ground floor will some day look very nice with botiques in there.
