Yea pretty much. The only difference is 117 less condos, 8 more hotel suites, 3 less levels of parking, david furman as an architect, lodgeworks as the sole developer, and a whole heap of brick. At least that is how i understand it.

I'm glad they're doing this project on such a small lot.  I don't think every single building needs to take up a WHOLE city block. That's where our street-level problems start.

Looks like this is finally starting to move forward.  They applied for their building permits last week and there have been crew trucks parked on the site for the last couple of days.

Wow, you know, considering the state of things in Charlotte right now, I'm very surprised this wasn't shelved for the time being.  But it's good to see that developers still haven't forgotten Charlotte.

Even with the state of things in charlotte, with the expansion to the convention center, the addition of the Nascar Hall of Fame, and other things going on in charlotte, we still are in need of more Hotel Rooms in the Center City. So I am definately not suprised that this has not been shelved. Its good to know that this tower is starting prelim work already, I look forward to having another new hotel around the arena, that will be what, the third under construction within a block of the arena?

Is Furman still doing it?  This is very visable on all sides,  and Furman is kinda a two sided kind of guy.  Ok, three sided on a good day.

Hasn't been furman for quite some time. Its Lodgeworks I believe, I could be horribly wrong however. And from what I've seen the building is fairly adequate on all four sides. However with the size of this project in relation to the arena, it will only be 100% visible from 2 sides, and partially visible from the other 2.

Lodgeworks is the builder and funder but unless it has changed, I believe Furman is still the architect.

The permit application is still under review, so there is no building permit yet.

Anybody know if the building permit has gone through yet?  There have been trucks on this lot consistently almost every time I look at the TTT webcam.

People keep calling this hotel the Sierra Hotel, but to my knowledge it is Hotel Sierra. I could be wrong, but there is no record online of ten Sierra Hotels, but there are 10 Hotel Sierras. Great to hear that we will get some more density going down trade, here's to hoping they put a good restaurant/hotel bar (no steaks allowed) on the bottom floor. Here is the website so you can see what we are getting. http://www.hotel-sierra.com/

I am glad to see this project come back to life and it will be a nice in fill development. In the future they will be the closest hotel to the Federal Courthouse and most of the Govt District which I think will bode well for them.

I second that... The arena will be surrounded by infill before too much longer.

I was looking at some of InitialD's "world famous flyover pics" of Charlotte and I think I see that this development will be TKOing another surface lot, correct? If so, I'm even more happy.

Yep, it is currently a green spot with grass and trees...the Federal Courthouse will take up the surface lot across the street.

Hmm, that seems to be a pretty tight spot.... You sure it's not across the street?
