Looks like the P-Town skyline is about to get a little more attractive. Given the activities of the past few months, I really think the downtown area is going to be something special in the next few years.

The second phase will involve a tower about 25 stories high. The lower floors would house 130,000 square feet of Class A office space – the largest amount of high-end office space in Portsmouth. The upper floors will house 100 condominiums.

City leaders today announced that a Texas-based company will redevelop what has been called Portsmouth's most desirable downtown spot into a mix of office space and residential units worth $158 million.
WOW!!! LPC are heavy hitters, and if they say they are doing it, they already have the credit lines to make it happen.
Look out, Norfolk -- as pilots say, fight's on.

VERY. it looks way out of place. it would fit a lot better in hawaii on the ocean than here. it's a good development and it will really change the Portsmouth skyline though.

So you're not so much objecting to the design of the building as you are the design of the building for this location correct? I can see where you come from where this may look out of place but this is still quite early. Hopefully subsequent renderings will finesse this view a bit. We have time. Since they're still ironing out the details with the city I wouldn't expect to see this start construction until next year at the earliest.
