Welcome to Quincy, Tallahassee's neighbor to the west and one of the oldest communities in our Metro. All counties in the Tallahassee Metro were made from Gadsden, so I felt it suitable to start the metro tour here. In this thread I'll try to bring you a sample of the Historic charms of this beautiful community, images of it's downtown, commercial buildings, Churches, government buildings, stores, hotels, and homes.

An interesting thing about this intersection - note the crossbuck on the far side of the intersection, in front of the Isuzu Trooper (not the state trooper ) in the picture - the traffic signals also act as signals for the railroad crossing.

My dad was the one that did the Old Fire pull station that is in front of the Fire Dept. He repainted it and fixed it up back before he retired from the FD. I have always like downtown Quincy. TJ you forgot to get a few good picture. Need to get the Old Leaf Theater, Quincy Womens Club(On King St), Old Quincy High School, the property appraisers office behind Paggets Jewlery(this is the old POlice/Fire Station from the late 1900's) I was born and raised in Quincy, you took some nice pictures.

My aunt lives in one of those huge, columned Quincy homes. Beautiful, but I prefer shotgun shacks.

I wish I had a little more time to explore the historic neighborhood around Qunicy's downtown. It was so beautiful to me.

Believe it or not. That is the tallest building in Quincy. That is known as the Masonic Temple b/c it was the home of my lodge. Our lodge moved to its current spot in the late 60's because they could not afford to update the building. The bottom floor for most of my childhood was McCoys Five and Dime store. They had the best warm cashews ever. The state bought it about 10 to 15 years ago. They redid the everything. The top floor still have the original black and white tile floor on it from when the lodge was there.
The picture that you shot of looking at the downtown traffic across the street from the Masonic Temple there is a vacant area  behind the masonic temple. That area us to be the old Roxie Theater. Back in the day that was the movie theater for the African-Americans and the Leaf Theater was for the whites(this was many a moons ago thou) The Roxie burnt down several years ago.

The Quincy Police station was at one time the old post office.

It was actually the Police station that made me feel like Qunicy was such a charmer. I have many friends from Qunicy, but I'd never realized how charming it is.
