I can tell you now that the team still gets a lot of its support (if not more) from Memphis and the surroudning areas of Tennessee. The few concentration of hockey fans there are in the Mid South tend to be in the wealthier areas around East Memphis, Collierville, and Geramntown. I know myself I will not watch another game if they change their name to Missisippi, or worse yet name themselves after a Memphis bedroom community. I imagine a lot of other Tennesseans would stop going as well.
If that happens, the promoters better have guaranteed fight nights, as well as country music and nascar star nights on a regular basis, or else attendance will really tank.

State boundaries don't divide a city or better yet a country.

I guess they could claim they just represent Desoto and Mississippi, but if thats the case they should just write off trying to get Memphis folks to even care about the team, because without Memphis there is no way DeSoto would be what it is today and be able to host the team to begin with.

Memphis cannot compel any state action from MS or AR. But business and political leaders can push for regional cooperation. In fact, they already have. We need to sustain and expand those efforts. And push for a presence, perhaps from our business leaders, in Little Rock to help out our AR neighbors get state help.
The way to combat this is to have a team with Memphis in the name compete against the MS Riverkings, put them out of business, then change the name to the Riverkings.
Finally, your last sentence makes no sense. Bredesen has people in him? Dude!

Now months later- what a shock- we in TN have rightfully stopped going to the games and attendance has tanked and now the "MS" Riverkings will likely move. This was the most boneheaded decision in perhaps the history of sports. I say good riddance to those iditos and the City of Memphis and TN should start anew with another team.
