your speaking of spanish threw me off too.
if that is the way you feel, then by all means feel free to give your income to others, and struggle to get by.
who said that this topic is the most important issue facing this country? the only reason we are'nt talking about how virginia is leading the way is because you made this topic a big deal by attacking other members. the key word is illegal. there isnt anything subjective about that. people should come here legaly. i know its hard, but its just selfish to make innocent people who just want to support their family and already have a mortgage and a car payment, pay for all the damage caused by illegal immigration. now, all we want to do is have a productive conversation about the topic at hand.

And, may I add, Europeans and Asians apply for citizenship through the NATURALIZATION process.  LEGALLY.  The don't have it as easy as the mexicans do.  They cannot just cross a border and get to America.

Just because I speak Spanish doesn't mean I'm Hispanic! Just kidding. :D

How many beltwayboys are there? I think that's a no-no if you're the same person... My instincts tell me that this is a different person because you're spelling illegal right.

The topic had strayed into illegal immigration long before I joined in.  If beltwayboy08 didn't have this topic on his mind, he wouldn't have brought it up in the first place.   Let's play a little role-reversal... what if you were them? You would do the exact same thing... you can deny it all you want, but you would.  It's like a modern day gold rush, or a 'work rush' if you will.  Immigrants are not selfish.  Trying to live the best life possible isn't selfish in my opinion.  They aren't here to take your money, they're here to cut your grass.

Well duh... and may I add, millions of Europeans and even Asians don't want to do the work that Mexicans risk their lives to do.  Go find a Parisian to come pick your oranges, or landscape your yard.

Even if you could find a Parisian to do it, do you think the oranges would still cost only $1.49/lb?

my cousin was reading posts that i had made and joined as beltwayboy07.
the only reason that this topic is on this thread is because it is how virginia is leading the way. its one of many things that virginia has done first. not until someone else started voiceing their oppinion, was i open with mine. the topic was on the decline when i was ruthlessly attacked for posting my oppinion. i didnt call this thread "tell me what you think of illeagal immigration". if i had, i wouldnt have posted it on this sight.
i agree with the fact that i would do the exact same thing. but then that would'nt make it right, would it. i would knowingly, but unintentionally, be stealing from hard working american families.   so, are you ready to either go back and re-read the whole thread, or do you want to stop making me defend myself for somthing that has nothing to do with this topic, and talk about what this thread was ment for?

The only reason blacks and other poor citizens of this country don't want these jobs is because we can't make a living on so little. If those jobs were paying living wages, there would be plenty of legal citizens to fill them. This work should be offered to poor citizens of this country. Here in the ghetto where I live we have what appears to be illegal aliens building homes in our neighborhood that we can't afford to live in.Black people and poor people in this country has not overcome. If they have millions of jobs to offer millions of illegal aliens.why are so many american citizens unemployed?and barely making ends meet.

Calling you a lazy person because your TIRED of pushing a button is hardly ruthless.  I think based on the post I was referring to, I was completely justified.

Quote

In recent days, our state has been passing controversial and progressive laws, such as the hefty traffic fines, and the just announced immigration law put in place by Prince William County. there are already other counties in the country who are considering the idea of taking the battle with illegal immigration into their own hands as Prince William has done.

Leading the way with bad legislation... I believe we're still on topic. You didn't honestly think you could voice your opinion without backing it up in a public forum, did you?  If you're TIRED of defending your position, then it must not be something you feel so strongly for. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean your being ruthlessly attacked.

I don't know that illegal immigrants, who don't have very much education, know that they are "stealing" from us.  You didn't completely put yourself in their situation.

Can both of you lay off the who attacked who debate please? The discussion is getting petty and pointless and has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Also, we already have a debate about illegal immigration going on in the coffee house. Here's a link to the thread. It seems to me that perhaps this discussion has become more suited to that arena.

Oh, ok. So beltwayboy 08 is actually the original beltwayboy from beyonddc. I admit to having been a little confused as to which is which.

illegals hurt way more than what they help the economy. They usually only help the businesses that hire them but they hurt the public infrastructure such as hospitals, schools etc.

It is my understanding that the illegals really hurt the lower class. Not only do the poor people loose out on employment to illegals, who are hired because they won't gripe about working conditions (work 10 hours, get paid for 7, and you can't complain to anyone). Plus it's often tax free, by mis-reporting the hours worked.

BUT, from what I've read, the huge influx of non-english speaking students in the schools where the poorer Americans attend is taking it's toll. The teachers are getting bogged down with the language barrier, and the poor kids are getting a much lower chance at an education.

I have a relative who works at a hospital in Florida. I'm told it's insane. ER is always hopping with illegals with colds and other simple things, and tons of babies. Upper class is too busy working, the poor people are breeding like stray cats, and eventually the system can't take the demand.

It's corporate greed. Someone is making a bunch of money by subcontracting the illegals. Before long, everyone "has" to do it, or they are uncompetitive. Just like all of the "American" corporations that offshored their work to other countries, only to leave their customers with poor customer service.

This will make your day better... go to 1 minute, 25 seconds:

Warning, cursing and stuff.

I don't have anything against mexicans, but I hate the greedy corporations that extort them just to fatten the lining of their pockets.at the expense of poor people and african americans. How can you do a background check on an illegal immigrant ?When black people with a minor criminal record applies for a job, they are usually turned away.We don't know what kind of crime they may have commited where they came from.

I'm quite aware that all illegals aren't mexicans, but I can't think of any other ethnic group that wants to come to america by the millions seeking employment.Like I said in an earlier post.Blacks with minor criminal offences are usually turned away during the application process. How can you do background checks on illegal immigrants?I hope you all can understand that this is not fair to blacks.and by no means do I have anything against Mexicans or any other member of the human race. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Not just African Americans, this is not fair to any American with minor criminal offenses that keeps them from gaining employment. My neighborhood is full of people like this.

Our country has been built on the exploitation of others.

I was watching a History channel documentary about the building of the Brooklyn bridge. They used migrant workers, paid them well, but had them working 120 feet underwater before they fully understood the issues of decompression sickness and what not. So a bunch of them got the bends all the time and died and stuff.

Yea, a friend has a friend that owns a franchise chain of resturants. He was saying he has lots of problems keeping employees. New people show up, get the job... then about 3 to 4 weeks later the courts catch up with the fact the employee has a job, then want the pay docked to cover child support or whatever else. At that point, the employee's take home pay is little and it's no longer worth it to the employee to work. So they leave and start the process all over again, hoping to make it as long as possible getting a full paycheck.
