Looks pretty tight, located on campus side of G.river and Collingwood, should definitely stand out from the rest of the campus which is what they want. 30 million dollars makes for a pretty solid architectural building. The Board is going to choose from those designs and the winner will have improvements made on their design to fit MSU's vision. If you click the picture, you can see a larger version.

Wow!!  Great for MSU.  Eli Broad has financed a lot of stuff out here -- nice to see that he remembers his old school.

Wow, those are pretty wild.  The first one reminds me of a whale or something  :P   Definitely interesting though.

You mean the second one?  That was my first thought also; some of the windows are even almost in the right place to be considered eyes and a blowhole!

If I had my choice I would probably lean toward on of the last couple, but there is hardly enough in those renderings by which to judge any of those complex buildings.

I think I prefer the proposals by Morphosis and Zaha Hadid (3 and 5 I think)

Are the proposals somewhere on campus where people can check them out? Anyone know when the selection will be announced?

Is it just my memory, or has number 4 gotten a new rendering since the link was first posted?

I think you're correct.  Four does look to have been replaced by a new rendering.  BTW, Zaha Hadid's would be a terrible choice for that specific site.

Lmichigan- Care to elaborate / explain to someone not familiar with the site and surroundings why Zaha Hadid's would be terrible?

Anyone have any info about who they selected or when it will be announced??

I think it is supposed to be announced tomorrow, the 15th, at a press conference.

It's a horrible design, I think this museum will quickly fall out of favor with a design that looks like it could be acheived with scrap metal.

There, I fixed your statement. I think it was the best design of the five finalists and I'm sure MSU is banking on the 'Starchitecture' of Zaha Hadid to help win over the design to the skeptics. I think its an exciting project and it will definitely stand out on that area of campus

This was, by far, one of the worst if not the worst of the five.
