Cirque Le Masque presents “Fire and Ice”Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 – 7:30 PM
“Fire and Ice” is a truly phantasmagorical, avant-garde, circus dance theater production,
drenched in colorful light. There’s also a plot to follow: Xenos, a strong and easily upset wizard who governs the elements of fire and ice, comes to Earth in order to express his wrath at the mere mortals who dare wake him. Of course this plot is accompanied by some spectacular shows – kicking off with Mario the mime artist, followed by Xenos and his umbrella troupe, four acrobats balancing on the edges of a cube, and the hula hoop lady performing to techno music.
Then comes more dance, juggling, balancing acts, some of them incorporating the ingenious use of long stretches of fabric (kids, don’t try this at home with mom’s curtains!) The show ends with some ‘human sculptures’- a hark back to the ancient Greek sculptures of gods and heroes. Maybe there’s an environmental message to be extracted in there somewhere – along the lines of
‘don’t mess with natural forces’!
Oblivious to the forces of gravity and death, Cirque Le Masque artistes perform in mid-air spectacular acts that exemplify the stamina and strength of a super-human body. Muscles flex and ripple while the performers swing, fly, bend and balance- and like true dancers but dancing on air, not on stage), their smiling or calm expressions betray no traces of the pain and effort involved in these seemingly effortless actions. The lights, music and imaginative costumes add to the whole adrenaline rush of this spectacle. But what really makes you hold your breath is the fact that these acrobats perform without safety nets, literally putting their life on the line.
Almost Heaven – Featuring The Songs of John Denver
Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 – 7:30 PM
“Almost Heaven” creates a theatrical narrative that reflects upon the country during the years in which Denver wrote them. The show features many of Denver’s hits including "Rocky Mountain High," "Sunshine on My Shoulders," "Annie's Song," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Calypso," “Almost Heaven”, and more.
This musical tribute to the life and music of John Denver boasts 28 of the singer-songwriter’s greatest hits combined with interviews, fan letters and passages from his autobiography. Guaranteed to leave you with a “Rocky Mountain High,” “Almost Heaven” takes you on a unique theatrical and musical journey.
“Almost Heaven” has the songs that make eagles soar and horses run with orchestrations and vocal arrangements by Jeff Waxman. This production was originally conceived by Harold Thau who has said Denver was the “brother he never had.” This lovingly constructed production will have audiences feeling the “Sunshine on My Shoulders.”
“A winning musical revue! The show pays excellent tribute to an artist who remains great at making people feel good.” - Variety
“It’s like flying along with John Denver through some mountain air!” - NY Times
Robert Dubac’s “The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?”
Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 – 7:30 PM
'Hilarious' is the only way to describe "THE MALE INTELLECT: an oxymoron?" You will laugh non-stop for ninety minutes as gifted actor/writer, Robert Dubac, ransacks his brain to answer the age old question, "What do women want?" His hit one-man show is a multi-character comedy with him playing all the roles.
With a shrug of his shoulders or a hooding of his eyes or a crook of his neck, Robert Dubac seamlessly transforms himself into five alter egos - each offering their own brand of misguided advice while straddling the gender gap.
Hailed by critics and audiences alike, "THE MALE INTELLECT: an oxymoron?" Is a rare thing; a clever combination of theater and stand-up comedy that is laugh out loud funny, provocative and thoughtful, all at once. There are two types of people who should rush and see it - men and women.

"Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year"
He Goes To Church - Skaggs Family Records (label), Ben Isaacs (producer)
Until April of 1999, the dynamic family band known as Cherryholmes did not exist, and half of its youthful members hadn't even picked up an instrument. In five short years, this high-energy Nashville-based band was named 2005 IBMA's Entertainers of the Year.
Cherryholmes has many qualities that make them unique, but the basis of their success lies in plain, old-fashioned hard work combined with shining star talent that only appears to glow more brightly with each performance. They embody the American Bluegrass dream.
All six band members pull their creative ideas to form their own new brand of bluegrass music. Every member takes a turn singing lead and showcasing their abilities. Their live shows include twin fiddles, Irish step dancing, classic country yodeling, and old-time claw hammer in addition to their dynamic bluegrass.
They have continued to receive many industry nominations and awards- including a Grammy nomination in 2006 for their first commercial release "Cherryholmes". Their second release on Skaggs Family Records "Cherryholmes ll" became available in May 2007. Cherryholmes have also become regular performers on the historic Grand Ole Opry.
Montana Repertory Theatre presents “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”
Tuesday, March 25, 2008 – 7:30 PM
A true American classic ”Cat On A Hot Tin Roof” won Tennessee Williams his second Pulitzer Prize and his third New York Drama Critics’ Award in 1955.
Set in the bedroom suite room of a plantation home in the Mississippi Delta, this sizzling story of a Southern family in crisis uncovers the lives of Brick, the alcoholic son, who is tortured by the death of his best friend and guilt about their relationship; Maggie, his wife, who is tormented by her longing for the husband she can’t possess; and Big Daddy, the father, who is unaware that he is dying of cancer. It’s Big Daddy’s 65th birthday, and all of the relatives are in attendance, attempting to present themselves in the best possible light so as to receive the largest share of Big Daddy’s enormous wealth.
Sparks fly as the greed, hidden agendas and half-lies are exposed, but there is humor as well, as in all of Williams’ best plays. The New York Times called it, “Mr. Williams’ finest drama. It faces and speaks the truth” and Time Magazine echoed, “stunning...Williams’ most memorable.”
MONTANA REPERTORY THEATRE was established as a professional touring company in 1967 to provide theatre of the highest caliber to its own and neighboring Western states at an affordable cost. Its mission is to tell the great stories of our world to enlighten, develop, and celebrate the human spirit in an ever-expanding community.
The MONTANA REP engages leading actors, directors, and designers with prestigious credits including Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours of Broadway shows and major regional theatre credits.
"In The Mood” – A 1940’s Musical Revue
Thursday, April 17, 2008 – 7:30 PM
Much more than a concert, IN THE MOOD takes a retro look at the life and time of America’s greatest generation; a generation that was listening and dancing to the same kind of music. With music and dance that combined up-tempo big band rhythms to mellow intimate ballads, the mood was set to inspire a future filled with hope, promise and prosperity. This was a time like no other in our Nation’s history, a time when music moved the Nation’s spirit. Come experience the swing, rhythm, jazzy, brassy, sentimental and romantic music of this important time.
A big band 1940's musical revue, “In The Mood” features the String Of Pearls singers and dancers with a sensational big band orchestra. The music and the arrangements are as authentic as it gets performing the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskin Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, and more.
This was a time that all America was listening and dancing to the same kind of music.
