Cypress Equities continues demolishing block after block on 7th in preparation for its West 7th mixed-use development. In the heart of the project, one of the last holdouts - 7th Haven - prepares to depart its soon to be demolished building on the 27th (don’t worry, 7th Haven fans - they’re moving across the street from Montgomery Plaza).

Posted Image

Posted Image

Heavy equipment is now moving in for site preparation. Fred’s can be seen in the background - one of the few buildings in the area *not* being demolished for the project.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

The former Acme Brick headquarters will be coming down soon, and crews have already been spotted doing interior demolition work.

Posted Image

Posted Image

The asbestos removal in the former Taylor’s Rentals building at 7th & University seems to have wrapped, and early demolition work is underway.  Crews have been spotted taking apart parts of the building already.

Posted Image

Another block in the south side of the project is cleared. For reference, this is across the street from Pop’s Safari.

Posted Image

Meanwhile, across 7th, the old Econo Glass building has been completely demolished and cleared.

Cypress is not wasting time here.  It looks like the first block will be seeing construction work getting underway soon.

Construction continues.  Meanwhile, some new renderings are up on the fence - these are photos of them:

Some retailers going in to West 7th:

Seven-screen movie theater "run by" Movie Tavern (don't know if it will be branded as such)
Splitsville (some sort of bowling/bar/sushi convergence)
Iron Cactus
Fireside Pies
Brut
Tom Tom

They've been busy leveling structures on the last blocks:

Finally, the big Acme Brick headquarters buildings are now being demolished:

Can't see the photos, for some reason.  This happens to me if I ever use the "Replace" feature (which results in the physical file name for the resource being changed now - didn't used to be a problem) or if I make them non-public.  Got to see this one in person yesterday...looks like it's going to be impressive.

Yeah, that was my fault.  I'll work on fixing them when I get some time this weekend.

Nice looking mixed-use infil development!  :shades:  An urban village is just what the Cultural District needs!

Hope to see some updated pics soon!

West 7th updates:  http://fortwortholog...ng-signage-etc/

Some recent shots:

Posted Image

Crockett Street streetscape between the two loft buildings.

Posted Image

Festival lighting in place between the two loft buildings.  The lights run between the two buildings for the length of the street, except in the center of the block. There, the buildings set back a bit, creating a sizable plaza space. Leaving the plaza area open overhead gives a kind of “tension and release” feel to the development’s streetscape, with a more cozy sensation between the building walls under the lights opening up to a larger central “room.” It’s a nice, subtle piece of spatial definition.

Plaza, bollards, sculpture, water feature, mid-block pedestrian passage.

Central plaza space.

Crockett streetscape.

Outdoor dining area - this will be Tillman's Roadhouse.

Posted Image

This will be Patrizio.

Lofts above the plaza.

Festival lighting, looking towards the east.

Movie Tavern signage going up.

Turned out really good!

Question: what's up with the almost non-existent balconies?

There's a term for those kind of balconies, but I can't remember what it is.  Something to do with Romeo & Juliet.  Basically allows you to open the big doors on the exterior of the unit without actually having a full balcony space.

The top-floor units and the corner units all have huge balconies, so I suppose it's also something of an incentive/bonus for people getting bigger apartments.

Also, the hotel component is likely to be dropped in favor of 100 more lofts over retail, due to the strong leasing demand seen thus far with the first round of lofts.

First tenants should be opening in October, including Movie Tavern, Tillman's Roadhouse, Paciugo, and Yofe. More in December, including LA Fitness, Bailey's Prime Plus, Patrizio, and Delaney's Irish Pub. Lucky Strike Lanes will be opening in March 2010 due to a delay in their Houston location.

They're called 'Juliet Balcony's'

Took a panorama of West 7th today.  Took it with an iPhone 3GS using the AutoStitch app, so I'm pretty proud of how it turned out:
