While driving through downtown this afternoon, I noticed a banner that I thought I read that BB&T will be a future tenant of the Alliance Center.  At first, I thought the banner said "Financed by..." (driving by it quickly), and then I thought it may have said future home of...

Can anyone help me confirm?  I'll include you when it becomes an UP-TLH exclusive update! ;)

Yes GG BB&T will be on the bottom floor as well as a restaurant.

I heard Hopping Green & Sams have purchased the top 3 floors, leaving only the office space on floor 2 and retail space available.  I have also heard that in addition to BB&T, an upscale bistro/lounge will be going in on the retail level.  I heard John Lewis was behind the bistro, but I thought he was just part of the team developing the building.  Does anyone know if that is true? Any word on what else might be going in on the retail level?

:yahoo: Welcome mf 830!

Glad you joined us!

Yeah we've been reporting here that Hopping Green & Sams was to occupy the top two floors and also that there would be a restaurant on the first floor, but we've never known who or what that restaurant will be yet.

I'm curious, exactly who is John Lewis and has/is he ever been involved in the restaurant biz in town?  If so, which one?

Are they only the top 2 floors?  I also heard that the steak house that was supposed to go into the Tennyson look at space at the alliance center.  John Lewis was a professor @ FSU and the man behind Super Lube.  Since it sold a couple years ago, he has been very active in some real estate development in and around Tallahassee.  He was also one of the men behind The Red Elephant, which just opened its second location on the north side of town.  He seems to have the magic touch with his projects.

^Yikes, sorry that was a typo--top 3 floors not 2. :)

The steak-house that originally wanted to go into the Tennyson was Ruth Chris, then we heard they wanted to go into The Plaza, then it was up in Killearn at the Old Winn-Dixie site on Timberlane and then we heard they weren't interested anymore at this time in Tally.  Is this the steak place you were talking about for Alliance?  If so, who knows what will happen.

Ah John Lewis, I should have known that since I know his son.  They operate under the name Tupelo Development now.  Yeah they are partners in the Red Elephant Pizza places.  They also will be the ones developing the Plantation Shopping Center up in Bradfordville.  We have the site plan somewhere posted on this board...well if it's not been "snatched" away by a former disgruntled poster.  Anyway are you saying Lewis is involved in Alliance?  If so, I might can find out some more info for us about possible tenants.

The ceremonial tree has been placed atop the building, signifying the topping out.   Drywall seems to be going on fast as well.  Quick as these projects are moving, I wonder if we'll have a dry spell with nothing to watch rise?

This thing certainly is looking more beige than the pure white I was imagining.  What do you guys think?

They removed the barricades from the front of the building and you can now see art work and such clearly inside the building.  Looks good during the day and at night.  I have always liked the design of this building and all the little touches that were added. I still hope that a restaurant is being added to this location so I will have an excuse to go inside and have a look around.

Does any one know what the rate is for leasing out a location here.  We are looking to upgrade to a newer location and would like to be downtown some were.  This is a nice spot!
