The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site will de dedicated with a grand opening this weekend. Phase 1, which includes the renovated Hangar 1 and flight simulators, is open now. Phase 2 is scheduled to open in April 2009.
Phase 2 includes a rebuilt Hangar 2 and renovated command tower. The interior of Hangar 2 will be a movie theater that will show educational and documentary films. Phase 2 also includes the renovated Skyway Club, where Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald and Cab Calloway entertained the airmen.
