With the addition of the Tiffany & Co., the Cheesecake Factory and Nordstroms; Ross Park Mall seems like it is gonig to be the place to shop.

I had also heard that they might add Crate & Barrel, Louis Vuitton, LaCoste, Tommy Bahama and Lucky Brands.  Has anyone heard any more on these stores?

I think those stores were on the mall's wish list.

I think it's great that Pittsburgh is getting more upscale retail.  Though you won't find yours truly shopping in any of those places, it's nonetheless great to have the diversity of retail that a metro the size of Pittsburgh should deserve.

I think a lot of the problem with new stores coming to Pittsburgh lies not so much in the economic demographics of the area but rather in the fact that Pittsburghers have traditionally been late adopters of trends and thus it takes a new store a while to catch on.  For luxury brands, the amount of time it may take for the tores to catch on may be too much.Perhaps with the success of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's (not that TJ's is necessarily upscale but it is a new store) and several of the stores in the South Side Works, retailers will now see that Pittsburgh is starting to shed its late adopter attitude.

Honestly I am torn on this one. I am not sure whether to be happy or sad. On one hand, I like the store and have purchased several gifts from store around the country as well as their catalog. On the other hand, I feel it cheapens the brand. The Ross Park mall isn't exactly the high end retail location I think of when I think of Tiffany's.

Tiffany's is kind of doing what Macy's did a few years ago. Yes it cheapens the brand when they are everywhere, but it also increases sales. Tiffany isn't expanding as much as Macys did though. Macy's are in multiple malls in a metro area. It seems like Tiffany's is only moving into the one or two most upscale malls in each metro area it expands to.

Watch for other high end brands to follow... This is a huge step for Ross Park Mall in establishing itself as the upscale mall for Pittsburgh.

where would you suggest Tiffany's locate?  East End?  SouthSide?  Downtown?
