This past Wednesday, I had to make a quick trip down to the Atlantic Station IKEA to pick up a piece of furniture I had ordered. It was too expensive to ship, so I figured it would be cheaper to drive down early one morning to pick it up. This was my first trip down to Atlanta in two and a half years, and I must say the city has changed a lot (something I'm sure most of you are accustomed to hearing)! I've been following the developments on here and it's really amazing to see them in person! I had to make it back before 9:00, so I didn't have time to get out and walk or take any night shots like I had hoped to. Hope you enjoy the photos! :)

You took some excellent pictures. Your camera quality is marvelous.

As an Atlantan, I take the city for granted. It is nice seeing your pictures. I am oftentimes in the Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown and I usually miss the vantage points you provided for us. I am sometimes so engrossed in conversation, darting across a street to make an appointment or whatever that I do not take time to realize the city. Although it was cold, I hope your visit was an enjoyable one.

At least traffic was not an issue for you on Wednesday.

Thank you very much Lady Celeste! When I left Winston-Salem it was 22 degrees. Once I got to Atlanta it didn't rise above 30 degrees, which I was very surprised to see. Like I said, it was great to see the developments going up and the amazing transformation that has taken place in this great city. I look forward on coming back in the spring to visit the new aquarium and walking through some neighborhoods that I haven't visited in quite a while (L5P, East Atlanta, Virginia Highland, etc.).

Nice work, JerseyBoy, especially the pics from your car (very hard to do). The pics of 1180 Peachtree are beautiful.

Atlantic Station is a great place to get some pictures of the Midtown skyline.

Do come back again sometime!

Great panorama of the ciy JerseyBoy!!

When you do come back, please be sure and make a stop in my neighborhood of Buckhead, I think you will be quite impressed at what is going on there as well as the rest of the city.

Thank you guys! In Atlanta and the many northern cities I drive in, I cannot hold up my camera while driving and shoot and hope for the best. I set up my tripod on this trip in the backseat and fired the shutter when I needed to. I've been coming to Atlanta for over ten years now, and I sometimes think I know my way through here better than I do my own town. ^_^

Kenneth, I'll make sure to do that when I'm back in the spring. By the time I waited over an hour for my order at IKEA and drove through Midtown and Downtown, it was too dark to make a quick drive into Buckhead.

That sounds great JerseyBoy!!

When many of the Buckhead towers are completed, it will make for some great daytime as well as nightime shots when all the towers are lit up in their splender!! :)

It has just been 1 1/2 years since I lived / visited Atlanta & I couldn't recognize some of the scenes.
