The Streets Of Buckhead

This will enable forumers to post information specific to The Streets Of Buckhead in this thread.
This projects original plan has called for several condo towers, three five star hotels and one four star hotel, and well as several office towers and a retail component that is said to rival the Bal Harbor Shops in Miami, The Forum Shops in Las Vegas, Americana Manhasset in New York and several other developments in the country.
The total cost of this development will be 1.2 billion dollars.
The retail component calls for 80 spaces for boutiques and restaurants.
I find it interesting that of all the restaurants that have signed leases so far, all are based on Madison Avenue in New York, and the retail so far has leases signed for luxury and ultra luxury boutiques, some with only 2 boutiques in the United States.
In the retail component of the project, it calls for 1/3 to be luxury retail, 1/3 trendy retail, and 1/3 hip retail, but as I stated only luxury retail has been signing leases so far, but keep in mind it will be two years before the project opens with a projected opening date of November 2009.
Below you will find the most updated list of restaurants and boutiques that have signed on to the Streets Of Buckhead.
Restaurants:
Bottega del Vino
La Goulue
Japonais
Boutiques:
Hermes- flagship boutique
AG Adriono Goldschmied
Bottega Veneta- flagship boutique
Dominico Vacca
Etro
Loro Piano
Luigi Borelli
Vilebrequin
The Optical Shop Of Aspen
I will try to keep the most updated list as other restaurants and boutiques make announcements.
Here you will find the website for The Streets Of Buckhead:

Also 16 pages of renderings of the development have been added although a few are sideways:

You know Christian3, I've got my wishlist too and one is Dolce&Gabbana, along with Emporio Armani, Custo Barcelona, Ermenegildo Zegna, and for the ladies Chanel, Yves Saint Laurant, Dior, and Emillio Pucci.
Did you know that Dolce&Gabbana opened a boutique in Phipps Plaza in 1994 where Cache Luxe now sits?
At the time Atlanta just wasn't hip enough for Dolce&Gabbana and they closed the boutique in 1997, but now 10 years later the retail scene in Atlanta is totally different and has matured by leaps and bounds, so I bet they will come back!!!

Atlanta native Ben Carter is one of the best developers in the Southeast. So I don't see any problem with Mr. Carter replacing the Barry Group to get the hotels built, and who knows the hotels might turn out to be better than what was origionally planned.
If I know Ben Carter, he is probably already sealing a deal as I type this post to have something in position to take care of the hotels component of the project. He is just too smart a developer to let things turn into havic.
So let Barry venture out into their own projects and I wish them well, but Ben Carter will turn out a good product for Atlanta.

Oscar de la Renta is coming to The Streets of Buckhead.
The celebrity designer is planning to open his first freestanding Atlanta boutique at the grand opening of The Streets of Buckhead in fall 2009, according to a statement from Ben Carter Properties Chairman Ben Carter. The boutique at The Streets of Buckhead will occupy two levels, in 2,850 square feet, near the intersection of Buckhead Avenue and Bolling Way.
"As the fastest growing city in the country, Atlanta is a prime market for our continued retail expansion," said Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta Ltd.
Oscar de la Renta also operates boutiques in New York; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; Dallas; Bal Harbour, Fla.; and Manhasset, N.Y. He will open a Costa Mesa, Calif., store in February.
The Streets of Buckhead is a $1.5 billion luxury mixed-use community currently under construction in the heart of the former Buckhead Village area.

Well said Manolos, and I can assure you that all of us that live in Atlanta are so glad that the city is getting the upscale and luxury retailers that in fact does make it representative of its status as the 10th largest urban area in the U.S.
So how do you feel about my wishlist of luxury retailers that might consider locating boutiques in the SOB, do you see it as realistic?
And I do wonder when the other two components of retail, being trendy and hip will start lining up for the Streets Of Buckhead, as I have stated the SOB is currently only seeing leases signed for upscale and luxury retail.

With this much luxury retail coming online in two years, I wonder if this will force the Louis Vuitton Boutique in Atlanta which offers everything from their collection except ready to wear to finally locate a new larger bouitique in either Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza or the Streets Of Buckhead and finally offer ready to wear along with all their other luxury goods to the Atlanta market.

Wherever Louis Vuitton is rumored to be going, I think that the pressure from these ultra luxury boutiques will force LV to expand wherever they may go, and finally offer thier ready to wear line.

And Christian3,
As far as hoping for maturity in Atlanta's fashion taste and becoming more avant-garde, your hope has already come true, or I can assure you, these super luxury boutiques would not be locating in Atlanta, as they do lengthy research as to what cities have a large affluent base, and would not risk building these extremely expensive boutiques if the client base were not present.

And Atlanta is seeing more Asian tourist than ever before in the city's history. And Atlanta has several new non-stop Asian routes at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. So this may in fact bring the client base LV needs to carry thier ready to wear line.

I'm sure the Art Institute of Atlanta will feel the need because of all the world famous designers that will be represented in Atlanta, and I also think the Savannah College of Art and Design, which has already received alot of nationwide attention will benefit as well.
