I'm curious....what source are you obtaining your information from? Concerning the MOP, I know personally two families who own homes in the building. One is a prominent Atlanta Urologist. He and his wife closed on their property already. As with most high end units as such, they are still in the finishing touches of buildout. Their unit is a full floor unit and was purhcased as a shell. There is also another family that I know from Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee. Their MOP unit is actually their second home as they make their primary residence on Lake Oconee. Sure you may see units dark. Most of us have multiple homes and do not normally keep an unoccupied home lite. To say "hasn't sold a single unit" is a falsehood.
Secondly concerning the SOB. I am in the area at least four times a week. I was last in the area on Wednesday and I could have sworn I saw men in hard hats. If you are traveling Peachtree Street northbound you can see a change in the position of the cranes. Why, I don't know because it is common knowledge that Ben Carter...the developer...is in renegotiations with the lenders on file. Could he be in financial binds...perhaps...but that's not the feel I got a few weeks ago. Although we all know that it's no secret that banks are holding on to cash like a desperate lonely woman at a man auction.
I have also heard...since some like to deal in the world of rumors...that the sign was painted over due to vandalism and not the tanking of the development as a whole. As I have stated, I have lately been in the area quite often and I have seen men in hardhats...unless Mr Carter hires men to walk around to appear as if something is happening.
Again I ask you....where are you obtaining your information?

I agree with you Lady Celeste. I'm new to the forum here but i also live in the Buckhead Area, as i drive by i always see guys walking around in hard hats at the SOB development. I was told the slow down was due to Ben Carter renegotiating the contract with the builder which in the long run would save him money. Smart Move

It looks like the Project is being delayed again. According to the AJC construction is being halted until spring with a new opening date of Spring 2011.

Also I noticed AG Adriano Goldschmied is not listed anymore, and Bottega Veneta has thrown in the towel as far as the SOB are concerned and will be opening a new boutique in Phipps Plaza on the level one Saks wing in the former Max Mara space. That gives the Gucci Group two of three of their high profile boutiques located under the same roof. The other being Yves Saint Laurent.

^^ That is so for real ct. I mean look at the boutiques in Atlanta already, A Global Louis Vuitton that is only one of three locations on the East Coast that carries the men's and women's ready to wear. A expanded and soon to be Global Salvatore Ferragamo also carrying ready to wear, then Prada, a Global Ermenegildo Zegna, Bvlgari, Fendi, Cartier, David Yurman, Tourneau, A/X, the largest Pottery Barn in their entire chain, the mega XXI Forever, theory, Elie Tahari, Valentino, a Global Giorgio Armani, Versace, Bottega Veneta, the mega Jeffery Atlanta, Intermix, Juicy Couture, Bally, Roberto Coin, Barney's CO-OP, Jimmy Choo, a Global Tiffany & Co., a Global Cole Haan, and I could go on and on, but for some reason we can't hook Chanel or DIor, although I must say that LVMH has been good to Atlanta with the boutiques they have added here including Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and then hopefully Dior.

I don't know either, haha. Similar cities like Houston and smaller cities like Orlando have Dior and Chanel, so Atlanta should have them too! I just wish that Microsoft wasn't opening at Lenox. The product will not be unique at all and will be sold at hundreds of stores in Atlanta. I wish better stores like Chanel or Dior would open or something like Gilly Hicks, which would be a pretty big deal since the nearest store is in Miami, and the malls each store is located in.

I guess we better dash out of this thread and back to Lenox and Phipps before someone gives us the business lol!!
But one last statement: I agree that Microsoft would have been better over in The Shops Around Lenox and all that space could have been sub-divided for Gilly Hicks, Chanel, Dior, Custo Barcelona, or even Emporio Armani. Ok, now let's run!!

The Streets of Buckhead is back on track!
OliverMcMillan, a firm out of San Diego to buy the Streets of Buckhead. They plan on putting $300 million into the project.
Quote
“We look forward to finishing a world-class development with inspiring retail, great restaurants and cafés, two residential towers, and boutique offices. We will be adding our own unique touches to create a luxury shopping district in Buckhead that will be the envy of the South. All of us understand it has been painful for everyone to have this development in the middle of Buckhead stalled for the last two years, and we will do all we can, with the help of the local community, to restart, finish, and open this local gem.”

We Atlantan's have always had a "can do" spirit and it appears that is still alive. Really exciting news, but I feel somewhat sad for Mr. Carter, but then what else could have been done?

It might just be me, but the layout of this project reminds me so much of the Bal Harbour Shops, of course with the added additions of an office tower, two condo towers, and just maybe some elegant hotels.
Atlanta will probably be one of few cities that has three luxury shopping complexes, being Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza, and The Streets of Buckhead.
I wish this new to Atlanta developer the best and like thousands of others, look forward to the opening of The Streets of Buckhead.
