Anybody in Chatty have information on the marina/condo project announced this week?  This is a completely new (previously unannounced) project that will be on the downtown side of the river, not the northshore.

It's not exactly new.  It was proposed around a year ago (or more) but the original developer went bankrupt.  It is now in local hands.  I thought there was a thread on it but I couldn't find it.

It would be a big project for Chattanooga but it looks as if it's at least three years away.

Chattanooga developer Bud Schimpf will close on the 6 acre site APR 3.

The project will include a hotel, restaurant, a new marina, condominiums and townhomes.

Mr. Schimpf is also paying to have the River Walk extended to the site.

Chattanooga will enter a 40 year lease on 2.5 acres at 201 Riverfront Pkwy, and have Mr. Schimpf build a parking lot.

Further details will be announced after closing.

This is good news.  Is there any indication this project could go forth sooner than originally anticipated (> 3 yrs)?

It was reported in today's Chattanooga paper that this project is moving forward much, much faster than previously anticipated.  Plans are to break ground on a 124 unit hotel (brand not announced) in November.
