City church wants to build 287-foot tower

St. Andrew's, working with developer The Alliance Group, plans to renovate and move the rectory to the north side of the property on Washington Boulevard. On the southern portion, they plan to build a 287-foot building with commercial space on the first floor and about 300 rental units on 26 floors above.

Now that is pretty insane. Even the churches in Stamford are turning into developers. Wow. Simply amazing. I echo your sentiment of envy.

The more I find out about Stamford, the more I'm convinced this is the city for Connecticut in the 21st century.  Just incredible what's going on down there.

Too bad it's incredibly expensive to live down there, I'd like to go.

I am not really suprised with the proposals that come in.  They all make sense with it being a major radial suburb of NY.  But what I really am impressed with is the cities ability to aprove these projects and have them come in line with the cities overall plan.  I mean the gov't is pro-development.  Its refreshing!

cheers!
