Overheard on the 99 bus at Kennedy Plaza:
[60-ish drunk gets on and sees friend] Hey Joe, how ya doin'?
Joe: Not too bad. What'cha up to?
Drunk: I'm goin' to the Bucket, to get f890ed up!
They do actually call it "The Bucket!"

The appellation is entirely homegrown. So, yeah, 60yo drunks.

And 30-somethings are taking it back to... I started a collaborative company with some other people from the Bucket and we call ourselves The Bucket CoLab. I believe the term started as a derogatory, but as other people move in, it becomes their own. Similar to what happened in Somerville... it was known as Slummerville, but because it was so expensive to live in Cambridge, and Somerville was RIGHT THERE, new people moved in and Slumemrville became a term of endearment.

Scummaville on the other hand, is still not a term of endearment.

And the Cyber-Elite most certainly didn't coin it! All my little darlings who were born and bred in Woodlawn use it too!

No, certainly... the Bucket was something I found out about from the locals. And I'm not sure if I am the cyber-elite... but I guess, if i am not, then who is?
