I am thinking about moving to Jacksonville.   I would like to live downtown - but have read various websites that say great and really bad things both.  It seems to be still in a major transitional period.   I am used to city living  - so some homeless and petty crimes don't concern me, but is the city working on bringing more housing downtown and cleaning the area up? Is there good housing (probably rental) choices? When I state downtown, I mean the business district area.  Any input would be great.

Hah, good question. Normally you'd get a response. There's tons of residential development going in downtown. Just check out some of the other threads here.
