I thought about stopping tonight, but I was really headed for the new mall in Mebane.  It would have been great if what Tanger did on a greenfield site could have been done at Burlington Square.

Hamricks to open in former JCPenney

Looks like Holly Hill Mall is getting a new anchor store. Hamricks is taking over the 40,000 sq foot space originally anchored by JCPenney. This has got to be great news for the mall...now if they can just find a decent anchor for the former Belk...

here's a link to the mall's website:

Well I'll be, looks like they got an anchor to take the former Belk space: Dunham's Sports is taking up all of the 89,000 sq foot former Belk:

a list of the current mall directory....looks like the mall is far from dead, although many stores seem to be local it's better then having a dead mall:

They seem to be doing pretty good as they have now filled the former Belk and JCPenney spaces. as a side note Burlington Coat Factory almost located in the space but it looks like the mall chose Dunham's instead. I'm not familiar with the chain but I'm picturing a Dicks Sporting Goods type place...it appears as if this will be the first store in the state for the chain...

Perhaps Holly Hill can lure a few more chains back with the anchors filled....at least a Bath and Body Works or something lol

Alamance County is booming in retail. With the economy rebounding, I would not be surprised to see the revival of Mebane's Buckhorn shopping destination, although that is actually in Orange County.

Great news for Holly Hill.... if only we could see this happen at other dying malls.  They REALLY have the advantage of being between the Triad and Triangle.
