The development, 100 East, which is a block off Main Street at the corner of Washington and Spring Streets, will feature retail on the ground floor, seven floors of apartments and a rooftop pool within close reach of the sidewalk.
I really don't think they did their research. H#$*! all they had to do is look at the sign on the street. But thats the Greenville News for ya.

No prices. No floor plans or hints of what the interiors will be like. Not even a link to or mention of the developer?
Has anyone heard anything concrete about prices?

The panels are being replaced with EIFS and some brick change, but overall the composition seems to remain mostly unchanged..?

It's my understanding that when the garage was built, the poured concrete columns were then faced with brick. BUT -- and this sounds crazy -- they didn't use brick-ties to attach the bricks to the columns. And at the time, no one noticed that that step had been skipped. In fact, no one noticed until pieces of brick started falling to the sidewalk below. On further inspection, it was discovered that whole sections of brick were separating from the columns, all the way from the top of the garage down. That's why everything got wrapped in tarps, to limit the possibility of brick shards hitting pedestrians and cars.
So now, they're removing all of the original bricks and re-bricking everything the right way (one hopes). I will say, glad they're doing it, but it's slow going. I think 100 East will be fully occupied before the garage project is completed.

Thanks for the insight! I assume this is at not cost to the City (other than maybe some minor parking revenues from the construction confusion).

(DowntownCityGirl is exactly correct in her above explanation of what is taking place).
