Given the previous rendering that we had seen of Bookends II, I wasn't expecting it to be identical to Bookends I, myself.  The rendering that someone had posted here several months back looked totally different.  This new rendering, at least, looks a little closer to what I had originally expected.  I think it's actually kinda cool that there are two different sides to this coin.  This isn't a first for Greenville, either.  Take a gander at both sides of the Poinsett Plaza Parking Deck some time.  :shades:

I posted the previous rendering of The Bookends-Phase II somewhere around here quite awhile back.

If you look closely, you'll see that all three sides of the Poinsett Plaza Parking Deck are different.  Each side is designed specifically to mesh with its surroundings.

I think I posted them over in the SC Forum in the Parking Garages thread.  I'll see if I can locate them and post them here, too.

They're on page one in a couple of different posts that I made in that thread.  HERE is the link.

Is pricing on Bookends Phase II similar to the first phase?  These look to all be one story units, so I would think pricing could be lower.  Any info?

They are getting the final floorplans this week.  Pricing should be set by the last week of the year.  From my conversation with the listing agent, they will be priced at a higher price/sq. ft than phase 1.  She said that the finishes will be nicer than phase 1.  I'll let you know as soon as I get a list.

Enough with the red brick already!  Otherwise looks pretty good.

The parking lot at the intersection of Washington and Spring Streets across Spring Street from the Bookends phase 2 site and behind the NBSC building has metal fencing going all around it with several construction vehicles on site including bulldozers and graders. There is also a construction trailer on site too. It looks like something big is about to happen on the site or near it. Does anybody know what this is and is it related to the Peacock Hotel and Spa or Bookends phase 2 construction? Drive by the site to see what i'm talking about.

I noticed that more than a week ago, but have no idea what it is for, unless it will be used for construction of The Bookends, The Peacock Hotel & Spa, or Spring Street upgrades.

I drove by the site a week ago too and it has changed a good bit since then. There is a lot more equipment on site now. It was dark when I drove by earlier tonight, but i'll drive by tomorrow during the day and take some pics and see if there are any pavers or anything like that on site to give us a hint of what it might be for. There was also a name of a construction company on the construction trailer, but I couldn't tell what company it was. I don't think it would be Spring St. improvements though, because they wouldn't need a construction trailer just to pave a road, would they?

Hmmm! This is interesting! I hope it's a new project that we don't yet know about. But if not, then I hope it's the Peacock or the Bookends, because I want that to get started.

I'm fairly certain that the lot at Washington & Falls is being used as an equipment staging area for the downtown sewer/stormwater upgrade project the City just started.  The 2/2 Greenville News article said it was expected to take 6 months, but I've heard 7-9 (which probably means a year).  Sections of Falls, Spring and Broad Streets will be closed at various times over the course of the project, which they expect to include blasting in some areas.   http://www.greenvill...D=2007702020331.

I've seen posts on this site that some of this work is associated with construction of the Peacock, but as far as I know, it's all part of a City project to increase downtown sewer and drainage capacity that's been in the works for some time.  The Peacock would benefit from it, of course, but I don't think the two are directly connected.

You know, btoy, I don't believe we ever had a CONSTRUCTION THREAD for the bookends...it was kinda finished before we really got this forum on fire the way it is...same goes for Poinsett Corners.  We should probably start one, eh?

What kind of rumblings?  That it's getting ready to start, I presume?

The fact that the links on the website are no longer there (ie. the floorplan links, email link to CB Caine, etc) and the site says "We continue to move forward with logistics & planning for this exciting project" leads me to believe that this project has stalled
