Not all news is good news, and this was a bit disappointing to see in the news, today.  I'm surprised of Lansing metro being the highest per capita emitter of the metros in the state.  The larger the number the larger the footprint, so 71st out of 100 is pretty high.

Lansing big emitter of greenhouse gases, but improving

...

Among 100 metropolitan areas in the nation, Lansing ranked 71st in per capita emissions and the worst in Michigan, according to a study released by the Brookings Institution.

...

But that's changing. Already, according to the Brookings study, the per capita footprint in the area decreased 3.49 percent between 2000 and 2005. And a new state law aims to accelerate the reduction further.

I believe Lansing was followed by Metro GR, and then Metro Detroit in per capita emissions.
