Since there hasnt been anything on all the construction going on Biltmore Park lately, I'm going to go down there (literally right down the street as I live in Biltmore Park currently) and take pictures of everything tomorrow. So far the Regal Entertainment Group Biltmore Grande 15 theatre and REI are open, with a Hilton hotel, condominiums, a University of Phoenix(which is almost finished), and a Barnes and Noble coming in the next year.

I'm surprised there isn't a ton of discussion about this - it looks like a pretty well-organized project.

I'm not a big fan of this type of faux urbanism, but I will frequent the PF Changs when it opens.

I went and saw a movie there last weekend. Stadium seating in Asheville, finally!  The PF Changs was open and had a big crowd out front (on a Sunday at lunch!)

The whole thing looks a little bit like a Disneyworld City, everything is too perfect... all the buildings the same age, and same style... I personally think it's kinda creepy... but certainly a nice alternative to downtown Asheville for those who think that downtown is too dirty and tattooed.

I'm certain the proximity of Biltmore Baptist Church had something to do with the crowd at PF Chang's on a Sunday. :)

I'm with AsheVid -- the newness of the whole complex plonked down by the interstate is a little weird and I'd rather take my business to downtown Asheville. But I have to say that the movie theater is very comfortable. Having the YMCA adjacent to the residential neighborhood must be a great amenity for residents. REI is a nice anchor. I can't say for sure, but maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the ground floor commercial units in the multistory buildings are occupied, and it appears that the upper floor residential units are not yet complete.

Yeah, after church, like at least one quarter of the people turn into Biltmore Park.

I am surprised no photos have been posted yet.

These photos are from the new Biltmore Park Town Square development, as of this morning.  This appears to be a good quality place if you like new urban lifestyle centers.  As you can see, there is lots of construction still underway, but the outer shell of the development is nearly complete.  To see a larger version of each photo, click the provided links and then the "All Sizes" icon on the flickr page.

This place reminds me Birkdale Village. It looks like a good project.

I'm down there 5 days per week and it's starting to grow on me. Plenty of parking, it's clean and it feels safe. The way the movie theater sits next to the highway is odd but I don't see that view when I'm going into the complex itself.

The gems of this area are the Y...nice anchor, nice spot. REI seems to be doing well, although I usually shop online for any outdoor stuff I need. Chang's is ok, been there a few times. It reflects the area - they all seem a bit different (there is one in Charlotte that is the coolest of them I think). Love the movies, nice and comfy. Haven't been to Brix or Main yet, maybe in the fall.

I lived in a town in VA that was close to similar amenities. A movie theater/play house was a few blocks over. Down from it a few restaurants (mom and pop places), a selection of shops, an art gallery that sold local stuff that wasn't too pricey, a nice jeweler, etc. Supermarket was a little farther away. Often we'd just get dressed and walk over to see what was going on. We'd see movies that we might not have normally gone to see, eaten at one of the 3 mom and pops that were nearby. It was fun, it was safe and it was clean. Never did I have to wade through throngs of people from the "other side of town". BP has this same vibe. I hope it keeps it.

Yikes.  Just what kind of people are you trying to avoid?  I live on the other side of town (North) and I'm actually pretty presentable and friendly.

I haven't been to the theater yet but a friend has a few times.  She tells me that the sound is very loud.  Have others experienced this?  I have a hearing problem and really loud places can be very annoying and somewhat painful.  If it is all that loud, then moocow may never see me down that way so he'll be safe.  *wink*

I used to live in the north end of town over near where the Hop was. I've had bad experiences at movie theaters elsewhere....one place in Raleigh was bad and at Beaucatcher a few times.

The sound does appear a bit loud at Regal 15, I wonder if it's the layout due to the way the seats sit? I went to see Potter and ended putting some balled up napkin in my ear.  Not sure if others complained.

Sounds like we were neighbors.  I can see the former HOP from my front porch.  Too bad about the sound at the Regal 15.  They likely won't get any of my business unless they tone it down some.

Top of the hill, it's been a few years though. Before the car wash, when the gas station and Boston Pizza were still around.

You could always call the manager and ask them if they would turn the sound down a few points if it's too loud. Not sure who sets it. One thing about that place the sound is steady. I was at Hollywood a few weeks ago and the opening ad sequence almost knocked me out of my seat.

Yep.  We probably were neighbors.  I've lived here since Ike's was in the former Boston Pizza location.

This is indeed coming along nicely. I was home in March and was very impressed with what I saw. I'm surprised at how much more they've built since then.

It leaves me cold.  Yes, it's worlds better than any other suburban subdivision, and yes it is a model for how the city should grow.  However... it seems like its there for people who love the soulless sterility of Charlotte but who hate the long drive.  I dunno... maybe in about twenty or thirty years when the trees have matured and the buildings have worn down a bit.

The ACT had an article recently about their having some showings with the sound turned down a bit. Not sure if it was for kid's features only or a wider range of movies but it would be nice to sit through a movie w/o being blasted from my seat.
